Saying that this weekend was a busy one would be a significant understatement. My friend Jenn from college flew in on Friday afternoon and I spent the weekend playing tour guide showing her just a glimpse of what Colorado has to offer.
This was Jenn’s first trip West, and she was eager to see the mountains in all their glory. I think we did it…
When I have new visitors to Colorado, we always do something fun and Colorado-esque. Whether it’s a trip up Pike’s Peak or a visit to the North Pole, it’s something that you can only see here… or something I just love that we have.
I have to share a quick story of something that happened while we were in Garden of the Gods. We stopped here to take some pics because it’s this amazing scenic overview.
We had someone take our pic, and then there was a guy who asked me to take some pics of he and his girlfriend on his phone. Um… HOW ABOUT HE PROPOSED TO HER WHILE I WAS TAKING PICTURES?? Awesome! What a cool moment to witness and to capture for them! I ended up taking a video when he got done on one knee… hopefully, they love it! I was so surprised by it! So cool to be a part of it!!
It was hard to top that… but I’d say we did as the weekend went on…
Most visitors are intrigued by the idea of Canvas and Cocktails, so it was no surprise that Jenn wanted to go there, too. C & C is a painting studio where an instructor walks you step-by-step through how to create a beautiful painting. Their easy instructions allow even the least artistic folks walk out with something wonderful and they play a super-fun playlist while you paint. I love the concept, and I think this weekend marked my SIXTH trip to this place. Yep, I’m a regular.

Gorgeous Paintings We Created at Canvas and Cocktails. My Dear Readers... Can you guess which one is mine??
On Sunday morning after eating pizza and drinking wine the night before, the idea of some exercise sounded FANTASTIC. I suggested a hike at Red Rocks, which is fairly close to where I live. It’s a beautiful setting and a pretty mild hike overall. It’s 1.4 miles from start to finish and begins and ends at the trading post inside the park. GORGEOUS day and GORGEOUS hike. This was one of my favorite parts of the weekend easily….
We’ve had the most unseasonably lovely weather, and I’m glad it was here for our trek through Colorado this weekend. Later in the week, I’ll tell you about the concert we went to see on Sunday night. ABSOLUTELY phenomenal… just like Colorado’s beautiful mountains.
