Traveling this weekend, I had some time to write about some of my recent adventures. I am hoping that as we get into the holiday season, there’s more time to write. Believe it or not, I have a lot of things to say… but just an under-abundance of time to capture it all. So, here we go… let’s talk about November!
Current Travel
On Saturday (as I type this), I’m traveling to Dallas and on the plane blogging. Seems completely normal, right? Until I tell you that I’m traveling this weekend to make sure that I can keep my status on my favorite airline. I’m two legs short of having status, so I’m taking care of it today.
As someone who travels quite a bit, I really value the ability to standby early when I want to and to get priority boarding. So, here I am… with an hour and a half in Dallas to burn before I come home.
Current Holiday Meal
I’ve been working with Sprouts for the past few years and I always have a chance to try new products. You guys, they asked me to try their FULLY COOKED Thanksgiving meal this year. OMG!
Knowing that I’m out of town for Thanksgiving this week, I used my meal to celebrate Friendsgiving with friends I haven’t seen in AGES. The meal for 6-8 people costs $69.99 and comes with the following:
- A precooked FULL turkey
- Mashed Potatoes
- Homestyle Gravy
- Creamed Spinach and Kale
- Stuffing
- Cranberry Sauce
- Hawaiian-style Rolls
Not only was it a lot of fun planning this fun evening with friends, but the food was INCREDIBLE. Also, I’ve never cooked a full bird (and technically still haven’t), but it was a LOT of fun pulling that turkey out of the oven. Just gorgeous!
I also LOVED setting my table. It’s so much fun to use all my dishes and things (and hello, namecards!)
I’ll definitely do this again. Loved it, and thanks, Sprouts!
CURRENT CONCERT TICKETS
I’m sure you’ve heard by now that the lovely Kelly Clarkson had announced her upcoming residency in Las Vegas!! You guys, I am so stinkin excited and have two sets of tickets to see my girl in Sin City! Can’t even wait!
Current Sleep Situation
I’ve had quite a sleep adventure the past few months. I attempted to purchase a new mattress on Labor Day weekend, and you guys, I made a terrible choice. While it’s a perfectly good mattress, I purchased a Purple 3 mattress that just did not work well for me. Thankfully, I was able to return it, and I found a new mattress that has saved me.
The man behind the mattress: Cloyce Shannon at Denver Mattress in Lakewood, CO. I mention his full name and location because if you’re in Denver and you’re looking for a mattress, you need to go see this guy. Cloyce is a PROFESSIONAL and helped me to find a mattress that worked well for my body. Truth: Most places you go, you will be sold a mattress. With Cloyce, he SIZES you for a mattress. GAMECHANGER.
I bought the Denver Mattress Madison Plush mattress and I’ve been sleeping like a baby for WEEKS! Seriously, go see Cloyce – – and tell him I sent you (you’ll get 2 free pillows for mentioning me!)
Current Pre-Sleep Supplement
I also started taking a little bit of melatonin. Being as restless as I was with the Purple 3, I was DYING. I picked up some Good Day Chocolates in the Sleep formula.
Every night before bed, I take 3 of these little blue beauties and I have droopy eyes within about 15 minutes. Try them! (Bonus: They’re DELISH!)
Current Book You Must Read
I just finished reading the most incredible book. I believe I’m going to have to write an entire blog post about it, but run… go get Fierce Joy, and get ready to be INSPIRED!
Current Lunch Tray Challenge
Amidst a hectic month, I found a new charity that I wanted to participate with: The Chef Ann Foundation. New-to-me, this amazing organization helps to bring healthier lunch options to the children of the country. Based in Boulder, they hold an annual “Real School Food Challenge” where natural food executives compete to create a recipe that has a budget of $1.25 per serving and tastes delicious!
Here’s an example of the evening’s creations (and the winner of the night!): Turkey Meatballs and Polenta with roasted carrots. So yummy!
CURRENT TINY TOMATOES
I spotted these tiny Sunset Tomatoes at Whole Foods a few weeks back, and I’ve been buying them as a quick snack to keep on hand. I pop a pack in my lunch bag every day and have become such a big fan. #Protip: MUCH cheaper at Trader Joe’s. Look for them there!
CURRENT APP OBSESSION
Confession: I found this app from celebrity podcasts. I think it was Stassi Schroeder who mentioned it on her podcast, referencing that she heard about it from Channing Tatum. Yep, this is my life.
Anywho, the app is THE PATTERN and I highly recommend it! It’s a horoscope app that leverages your natal chart to identify the patterns that shape your life. Each day, you receive an update about what’s happening in your world – – and it’s been SPOOKY ACCURATE for me. Check it out here.
CURRENT FLUFFY JACKET FIND
I spotted this jacket on Instagram on the lovely @hatsonthemap and knew I had to give it a shot. Amazon has really been upping their fashion game and this jacket is beyond cute (and reasonably priced!)
It fits true to size and comes in a variety of colors. Check it out here.
CURRENT PODCAST LOVE
New Podcast Alert! Not new to me, but I think *you* should start listening to it: Taste of Taylor. It’s a Dear Media podcast (which is a collective of badass female girlboss podcasts), and stars Taylor Strecker who is my favorite daily radio show host.
I’ve legit been listening to Tay for +12 years now. Her show is fully of fun celebrity and Bravolebrity guests and is a great escape! Check it out here.
CURRENT BRA FIND
Confession: I’d been wearing a super worn out bra for like a year too long. It was a Third Love bra, and one that they discontinued. I loved the fit and wasn’t willing to settle for just any bra to replace it.
After ordering a bunch of bras online that I didn’t love, I spotted Target’s new Auden line and decided to give it a shot. SO SO NICE. I ended up keeping three different styles, for less than the price of one of the online buys.
This one is my favorite of the bunch (and on-sale this week!) Super comfortable, and worth a try. I have it in both tan and coral.
CURRENT OUTDOORSY COAT FIND
I got sucked into a 50% off Old Navy sale this month and picked up this super cute color-blocked puffer jacket. I feel like it looks super outdoorsy and Colorado-like. Above all that, it’s WARM! Perfect for this unseasonably cold start to the season we’ve had.
CURRENT WEATHER
It’s garbage. It snows every single week. I’m over it. Bring me summer.
I know I live in Colorado, and stereotypically, this is our weather. I promise we have NEVER had this much snow in the fall in the 15 years I’ve lived here. Sigh.
CURRENT NOVEMBER 2018 #OOTD
Unbeknownst to me, I wore the same exact outfit two years in a row. Instagram’s archive option showed me that my outfit aligned on November 11 in both 2018 and 2019 (without even trying!). It makes for a fun #transformationtuesday photo, as you see below!
CURRENT BLACK FRIDAY WISH LIST
Waiting for this cute bag from Anthro to go on sale. It’s a tote, and I “totes” feel like we need each other.
Current Meme
Obsessed with this look, Lizzo’s tiny purse, and how it’s being shared right now. It’s EVERYTHING, and the jokes keep coming. This one seemed about right on a holiday Monday.
CURRENT THANKSGIVING PLANS
I’m heading back to the desert and to Montelucia this year. With not enough time to fly to the east coast, I’m sneaking to the desert to enjoy (hopefully) some sun and fun with my friend Donna. I can almost smell the Joyambrosia massage oil… can’t even wait to get there!
