Thank you for all of your lovely notes about my If I’m Completely Honest post from Monday. It was a harder decision than you think for me to 1) make the change, and 2) share it here. Nothing but love for my friends at Jenny Craig as I move forward.
You might also remember that I chose the word Renew as my word of the year for 2018. For me, it’s all about renewing my commitment to myself, going back to what’s important to me, and focusing on those things that bring me joy.
So… what’s next? What am I doing?
While weight loss seems scientific to most, for me, it tends to be a bit of a game. If you do this, than that happens. The scale moves because you’re playing along and doing the right things. It keeps your interest because it’s not a routine, and you’ve got to pause before you put something in your mouth.
You eat with purpose, and every bite counts. You can’t just guess; you have to pay attention. Not because you have to, but because you want to… because your goals are that important to you.
You guys have seen my posts on Instagram (if you’re not following, click here to stay up to date!), and I’ve been working hard since January 1. Not surprisingly, I’ve been cooking more and eating lots of lean protein.
The program I’ve chosen to join is one that I’ve seen success with in the past, and it’s now reinvented itself again in a way that caught my eye.
I’m officially a Weight Watcher.
I’ve been on Weight Watchers more times than I can remember, but I haven’t been a member in more than 8 years. With that, it’s a brand new effort and I’m extremely hopeful that I’ll find the tools to reach my goals in 2018.
The new Freestyle program is easy to follow, fits into my heavy travel lifestyle. It’s also keeping me on my toes. While it’s not much, I’ve lost more in the past two months than I’ve lost in the last year, and I’m eating more freely than I have in years. It’s been an adjustment, and will continue to be… but I’m on my way, y’all.
I joined the program on December 30th, as soon as I returned from my holiday with my family (you know, the one where I single-handedly drank all the rosé in Tennessee.) I was completely ready for a reset, and I couldn’t bear delaying the leap to a new program.
I signed up for Weight Watchers Online, and I’ve been logging and tracking ever since. I can’t even tell you the excitement (and nervousness) I felt drifting from my program of years past. I knew what to do on Jenny Craig, but this whole new program with WW… I had no idea where to begin.
I did what every girl does (right?) and went to my instafriends to ask their advice! Thanks to these brilliant ladies for entertaining my questions, supporting my nonstop inquiries, and sharing their confidence in me! Two months in, I think I have a handle on the program and how to work it.
I purposely joined the online program to avoid a lot of the New Year’s rush, with consideration to add meetings at a later point. If I’m completely honest, I think I need the meetings as a reminder and reinforcement of what and why I’m doing this.
For 2018, I’ve only lost 7.5 lbs (including -1.8 lbs this week), but you guys… I’ve lost 7.5 lbs! Considering that I’ve been on the road more than 20 days over the past 59, I’d say that’s pretty darn good.
I also feel confident that this program is one I can transition into quite easily from a maintenance standpoint, and I need that. I need to see that this is sustainable and that the “diet” will eventually end.
So.. That’s the news! That’s what I’m up to. Looking forward to sharing more on this fantastic journey as it unfolds! xo
Note: I will be including Freestyle Points on my recipes (calculated in the Recipe Builder), but as always, please make sure you’re double-checking my stats with your program. It’s worth it as all ingredients are not created equal…
