Let’s pretend we’re not 9 days into April… mkay?
Either way, the slowest weight loss process of my life continues….
We’re still moving in right direction, so there’s no concerns there. It’s just slow.
I’ve decided I’ve definitely eaten too many free foods in recent weeks. I think my metabolism might be slowing down as I pick up speed in the 4th decade of my life. And, amongst us friends, I’m 99.9% sure that STRESS is playing a bit of a role in this process.
Yes, stress. Now, stress is something that I don’t often talk about here… because it doesn’t manifest too much in my personal life, but mostly in my professional life. I’ll be brief (and then we’ll return to normal NTTC programming), but in the past three weeks, I’ve found a new job and quit my current job.
I’m super excited about what lies ahead, and I feel that a ton of stress has lifted over the past few days. I also feel a bit of sadness. I’m terrible at goodbyes, and the fact is I have the most talented group of folks working for me that I’m going to miss desperately.
With all the commotion and emotion tied to my resignation, my eating for the past week has been a little off track (but barely.) If I’m guilty of anything, it’s eating a little bit of a heavier portion of dinner and/or maybe an extra 2-ingredient dough bagel. Even at my worst, my eating doesn’t get too far out of control, which is good.
That being said, I’m down -7.6 lbs this year (and more than 40 since I starting writing this little blog of mine.) Woo hoo!
Rewarding Good Behavior – I’ve always loved the idea of having rewards programs and things to look forward to throughout the process. While fitting into my favorite clothes, getting winded less, and feeling great are amazing rewards tied to this process. I’ve scheduled my first rewards program win at -10 lbs, and I’ve established another prize for each subsequent 10 lbs. along the way. So what does my first 10 pounds lost earn me?
A night at Spa Happy Hour in Denver at the Four Seasons. Our local Four Seasons hotel offers a “happy hour” option for services where you get two 30-minute mini-services for just $99. I’ve always said I wanted to do it, and I’ve never made the time to do it. So, it’s my reward, and I really would like schedule this during my time between jobs…
In other news, I refreshed a recipe I made a LONG time ago. Are you a fan of Cracker Barrel’s Grilled Chicken Tenderloins? I mean, you should be… check out these beautiful tenders (for just 2 SP per serving!) Full recipe details are here.
