Happy New Year!! I hope the first few moments of the year have been enjoyable for you. For me, they’ve been peaceful, they’ve been relaxing… and I’m savoring the final hours before I go back to work.
The best plan to be on is that one that makes you feel good, the one that you’ll stick to, and the one that fits into your lifestyle. If you’re looking for a plan, that’s the one for you!
I’ll tell you about mine today… because I know it’s that time of year where you’re trying to assess and decide to take action. For me, Jenny Craig has been a lifesaver. I went on this program about 6 years ago and transformed my life. I share my story to give you a glimpse of how the process works…
Six years has been the absolute longest I’ve ever kept the weight off. In 2016, I gained some of it back. I’m up about 20 lbs from that pic on the right and I plan to do something about it in the new year.
I’m tired of noticing it. I’m tired of squeezing into jeans that used to be my favorite loose jeans. It’s just time. So, I did something that I haven’t done in years: I scheduled myself a consultation at Jenny Craig.
Last Thursday after getting home from an indulgent holiday, it was beyond time. I’d eaten enough stuffing and saltine cracker toffee (not together obvi), to last me until next Christmas, and I just needed to stop the insanity.
Upon arrival, I met with a new consultant at Jenny Craig, the center director Anna. She’s wonderful and offered to consult me a few months ago to tackle this weight. It was finally the time, and she is going to be so great to work with!
For those of you who haven’t experienced it, the Jenny Craig plan offers you individual consultation. This one on one approach allows you to talk about what’s really going on in your process and for me, offers me accountability to another person who wants to see me succeed!
Anna and I got the weigh in out of the way, saying goodbye to that not so pleasant number on the scale, and got down to business. She walked me through the meal plan, reminding me of what I should be eating throughout the day. Not only my Jenny Craig foods, but also fruits and milk and veggies. I’d forgotten how MUCH you get to eat on this plan!!
I ordered my food (including a lot of their brand new menu additions!) and headed home to stock my freezer with all my meals. I’d already made a trip to the grocery store, so with tons of veggies and fruits on hand, I was ready to go!
Today is day five, and things are really going great. I’ve been on the scale and seen some positive change already which is exciting, but mostly, I feel at peace with food again.
Ironic for those who know me, but I actually find that I operate best with a plan when it comes to eating. I tend to make poor choices when I’m out and about. I even worry a little bit about what I’m going to choose and if I’m going to be able have the passion and strength to choose wisely. Being on a plan like this just brings me to a calm, peaceful place… and I needed it!
The first five days have been really great. And while I know the weeks that come will be the ones that matter most, I feel positive and inspired. Can’t wait to share more with you about this process as I continue… it’s going to be a wonderful year! xoxo
