For the past few weeks, I’ve been sort of sloth-like.
I’ve eaten more than I should, and I’ve not made it to the gym as much as I’d like. Truthfully, I’ve had a tiny pity party for myself and eaten foods that I never normally eat.
A lot of bloggers have been participating in these Diet Bets over the past few months, and Tiffany actually did one last month that she loved!
Here’s the premise: You pay $25 to participate, and then you’re challenged to lose 4% of your weight during the monthlong event. For everyone who hits that 4%, the pot is divided equally.
Tiffany, Erin, and I are amongst the 552 players in this game (and my friend Jen G. who signed up too!) This bet is a HUGE one, with $13,800 in the POT… and I’d love to win a nice piece of that! Based upon Tiffany’s last round, about 50% of folks win… which would easily double my money. I’m hoping for at least that much! I will, of course, take the full $13,800…
Saturday night was a super-fun night on the town with my friend Jessica. We went out in Downtown Denver staying out pretty late and enjoying all the delicious vodka the city had to offer. Oy vey!
Now, I kind of knew it was the final night of indulgence… and was hungover the next morning, craving all the wrong foods. After biscuits and gravy at Whole Foods (yum), I finally got on the scale.
The way this thing works is that you have to submit a full length pic of yourself on a scale, and another of just the scale numbers (I’ll spare you the toe pic… Get it? Toe pick!!) They tell you to wear TSA approved attire (no shoes and covered.)
You submit the same pics after 4 weeks, and that’s how it works!
Why in the World Am I Doing a DietBet? Why in the heck not? I need to start eating better and caring about that last bit of weight I have to lose. I’m not terribly motivated by money, but I am motivated by peer pressure. Tiffany is going to win this, and I bet Erin does too. I can’t be the only one who doesn’t lose her 4%!!!
So, starting Monday, I’m back on the wagon… eating healthy and working out. I know that I feel a million times better when I do this… so I think it plays well into the whole Selfish September concept.
Have you ever participated in a weight loss contest?
