And, just like that… it’s NTTC Shake Week!!!
I love Shamrock Shakes. Ok, let me rephrase that: I used to love Shamrock Shakes. Now, I’d say, I love the idea of the Shamrock Shake. If I drank one today, I think I would literally be sick.
Just the same, I have fond memories of sipping on those green milkshakes. And, let’s not even begin to talk about the fact that there are all new flavors this year. There was a time in my life where I would be scooting over to the golden arches to enjoy a shake, but for this year, I headed to my kitchen to create a healthy alternative.
I used the Jenny Craig Vanilla Dream Shake as my base, and added a little fruit to make it healthier. The picture above has just a smidgen of green sugar crystals, just for decorative purposes. Please leave those off unless you feel the need to be extra festive!
Healthy Shamrock Shake
Serves 1
INGREDIENTS
1 Jenny Craig Vanilla Dream Shake
1 cup ice
1/2 frozen banana
1/8 – 1/4 tsp. peppermint flavoring
2-3 drops green food coloring
INSTRUCTIONS
Combine all ingredients in a blender and process until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
Important Note: Start slow with the peppermint flavoring. I started with 1/8 tsp. and then added a few more drops. Take it slow, and taste it along the way to get your right level of mintiness.
