As I was getting ready to post this month’s “Currently” post, I googled February to see what came up. Lots of frozen tundra-like photos… but here in Denver, we’ve had an AMAZING month of gorgeous weather… and this picture seemed to capture it well…. especially since it was one of the best days in Denver this month, celebrating the Broncos’ Super Bowl win!
I didn’t get to attend this Super Bowl parade in Denver, but you can very well see I was one of the only people in the city who didn’t. Such a fun year with the Broncos, and a great time to be a Denverite. So, I couldn’t resist using it as my “February” photo…
CURRENT SHOW I’M LOVING:
I’m way behind on my DVR, but I’ve been recording the Hollywood Medium with Tyler Henry on E!
Are you watching this show? I’m obsessed with it. I love anything on the spiritual side, and I find it just fascinating how this young guy is able to connect with all these celebrities in such a real and intimate way. And, it doesn’t hurt that there have been fun people on like Monica Potter (from Parenthood), Ross Matthews, and Heather Dubrow. I can’t wait to see who he reads next….
CURRENT DONATION ITEM:
When I was in California earlier in the month, I had an opportunity to visit a spirit circle with my friend Pauly led by a medium. While I didn’t connect with anyone from the other side during the discussion, she did warn me about these shoes.
She mentioned that I had a pair of brown shoes that curled up at the toe that I should not wear anymore. She advised I would take a helluva spill in them… breaking my ankle. Or, I could get rid of them. If you see them at the Arc Thrift Shop, keep walking…
CURRENT MUSIC LOVE:
Did y’all see American Idol last week? I don’t typically watch the show, but when I heard that Kelly Clarkson was going to be on… I think we all know that I recorded it.
I’ve been a huge fan of the song Piece by Piece since her album dropped last year, but I’m so excited it’s touched so many more through her performance on Idol. Poor thing is also 20 months pregnant in this clip, so I’m glad she was able to make it!!!
I accidentally figured out this weekend that I’m a puzzler. I spent some time with my friend Beverly, her husband Brent, and friends this weekend. And, they had a jigsaw puzzle on their table. I started piecing it together… and found it to be an incredible escape.
Much like when I knit or craft, my mind went blank and I loved it. So, I think I’m going to have to get myself a puzzle to put together. True story: It may take me a quarter to complete it, but I think I’m going to start one!
Since I’ve started working from home, I’ve spent a ton more time at my place than ever before. It makes you notice things: dusty ceiling fans, clutter that needs removed, and upgrades that you’d like to make.
At the top of my agenda: Upgrading my home office!
I need a space that’s comfortable to work in, that keeps me off the couch, and mostly keeps me productive. Like anyone tackling a project these days, I’ve created a Pinterest board, and I believe that this Anthropologie rug is the inspiration.
I already had a vision for a room decked in black, white, and grey with emerald green accents. This rug just pushes it over the edge… and will be my next purchase. I picked up my new desk on Sunday. Let the games begin!!
I’m not reading anything right now, but I’m determined to change this in March. I love reading. I miss reading.
So, I’ve got this book in my bookshelf, and I’m planning to dive in. Another from the lovely Elin Hilderbrand… my friend Erika read it and loved it!
This month, my best trip was to Southern California. Not only did I have a chance to meet up with my dear friends Crystal, Lisa, and Janet… but I also got to see the gorgeous Pacific ocean. There’s something fantastic about just being close to the water for me. Relaxing and grounding…
I took this picture from 30K feet as I was flying out of John Wayne. One of my favorite views… can’t wait to see it again.
CURRENT TINY TRAVEL BAG:
You might remember last month that I was searching high and low for a small bag to take on my work trips. Needing something to stuff in a backpack, I found this little purse… and I love it.
It’s a convertible crossbody/clutch bag… and my very first Tory Burch. Thanks, Tax Return!
CURRENT JENNY CRAIG FAVORITE:
For my friends on the Jenny Craig program with me, I can’t get enough of the Kung Pao Beef. Why is it so good??
I’ve also done some pretty badass stuff with the Chicken Burrito. Stay tuned for more on that….
CURRENT FAVE SNACK:
It’s not a snack, but my goodness… I’ve been traveling with my vitamins and my calcium chocolates lately. And, at the end of the night, when I want something sweet, but I’ve eaten everything that I should for the night. I
enjoy take my Adora calcium chocolate disks… and call it a night. They’re saving me.
CURRENT #REALTALK BLOGGING STRATEGY:
Because it’s the big elephant in the room, I thought I’d just mention it here…
I’ve not been blogging as much as I’d like to in recent months. I haven’t been going to the gym as much as I’d like either. I’m striving for balance… and I’m looking to find it wherever I can.
What that means is that some days, a bubble bath seems more therapeutic than writing and that some days, the idea of looking at a computer screen for even five more minutes is too much.
What I do know is those moments that I have where I can blog and share my story allow me to feel like “me”…. so, I plan to continue to return to writing and blogging and sharing as much as I can.
There is an ENORMOUS amount of accountability to myself that has been generated by this little place on the web, and I’ve come WAY TOO FAR to turn back now on all I want to accomplish.
Thank you for understanding my random schedule… what I have been able to do pretty consistently is post to Instagram. If you’re not following me there, I definitely recommend you do (click here).
