Like the rest of the women on Pinterest, I pinned this gorgeous pair of earrings… and then scoured the internet to find a pair that I could purchase.
Sadly, these Kate Spade holiday earrings sold out incredibly fast, and they’re all gone. Yes, completely sad but true…
Then, what to my wondering eyes should appear on Instagram but a DIY version of these fabulous earrings!! Meet Life Modifier. The lovely Annica is a Denver lifestyle blogger and the creator of this fantastic craft project. Be sure to check out her blog to see her version of this gorgeous ear candy, which completely inspired this post. Thanks, Annica!!!
Without further ado, let’s make some earrings, folks…
I made two versions of these DIY earrings: A black pair and a creamy white version. I’m certain that other colors would be beautiful as well. And, I was able to pick up all my supplies in a super-quick trip to Target.
DIY Copycat Glitter Kate Spade Earrings
Inspired by the lovely Life Modifier
SUPPLIES
1 pair of four-pronged stud earrings
1 bottle glittery polish
1 bottle clear top coat polish
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Leave your earrings on the card they come on. It will make them easier to paint. Note: I picked up both pairs of my earrings at Target. Annica found hers at Wal-Mart. Lots of options! I do recommend that you pick up a pair that looks like the below. Milky in color, as opposed to a sparkly faux-diamond pair.
2. Start painting your earrings with a glittery clear polish. Add as many coats as needed until your earrings reach the level of sparkliness you are looking for. I’d recommend between 6-8 coats if you use the polish I did. Note: I used mostly Essie’s Jazzy Jubilant with a little bit of OPI’s Snowflakes in the Air.
3. When you’ve achieved a glittery state of perfection, add a clear coat of top coat to seal your work. Allow the earrings to sit overnight to harden completely.
Aren’t they gorgeous???
