Tonight, I did something that I’ve never done on a Friday night (or any other night for that matter)… I went to a fashion show!
Denver has a super-cute historic Santa Fe Art District, which is known for it’s First Friday artsy evenings. And, tonight, fashion found Santa Fe!
My friend (and co-worker) Carla’s husband works for an awesome architecture firm in the area that was hosting the show and she was able to secure two extra tickets for myself and another friend. Hangar 41 was a great venue for the event. While it’s an architecture firm by day, they really rolled out the red carpet tonight.
The Denver Art Museum has a Yves Saint Laurent exhibit right now, and this show is part of an associated series of events. After my first fashion show, I think the next stop is that exhibit!
The show featured lines by two local fashion designers. While I’ve been a big fan of Project Runway over the years, I’ve never been this up close and personal with a fashion show.
Did I mention that we were in the front row? Great spot to be in especially if you have a camera in hand…

My favorite look of the evening. I wish I would have caught the other side where you could see the red flower in her hair. Very spanish and obviously fabulous!
Another surprise on this night of firsts… it was the first time I bought a painting at a fashion show! The firm also features local artists on their walls, and I found this gorgeous painting that I just had to have.
In looking back at my pictures, I noticed the words on the painting to the left, which I loved as well. It reads: Who Am I Not to Change the World” I think that one could easily find a place in my home as well. Love those words.
What a fun night!
