Exhausted by Britney’s intense lip sync shenanigans, we woke up refreshed and ready to hit the day!
Once again, we had pool time on our agenda and found the most lovely spot at the pool near some fun folks from KC (Ironic, considering we had plans to see KC later that night!)
Another Vegas Tip: If you stay at the Cosmopolitan, you have to get out to the pool early or you’ll have to pay BIG MONEY for chairs. We were able to snag two chairs that were tucked away on the pool deck at about 930am. Seriously, every other set of chairs had been marked with towels. And, on the weekends, the rented chairs/cabanas run $500-$1000 for the day. OMG… Get there early!
We spent just a few hours out at the pool, noshing on breakfast and spending quite a bit of time in their awesome Boulevard pool. It was one of those amazing zero entry pools (think kiddie pool) allowing you to sun in about 3 inches of water. Enough to cool off, but not nearly enough that you’re submerged. It was perfection. I need one of these…
After a few hours and before it was 110 degrees again, we decided to get freshened up and hit the Vegas shopping scene. Now, you know me… I’m a girl who likes to shop. And, it’s not every day that I get to shop with Angela… so off we scooted to Caesars’ Forum Shops. One of our favorite places to shop… Angela loves the Guess shop and I love to drool over Tory Burch, of course…
After a few small purchases for the evening, we headed over to Mesa Grill for our late lunch reservations.
Our plan was to eat a late lunch with Bobby and then eat after the concert later in the evening. How cool did we think we were with 11pm reservations at Firefly?
Regardless, after I ate at Mesa Grill, I legitimately wondered if any other food would ever compare again. IT WAS THAT GOOD. Another tip: When in Vegas, go here… Bobby will blow your mind!!
Angela and I both ordered a starter. I ordered the fresh tomato soup (that I made on the blog last week!) and she ordered Bobby’s Goat Cheese Queso Fundido… which was equally amazing. Salad and shrimp tacos rounded out the meal… and we kept talking about it the rest of the day. That good.
After our meal, we worked our way out of the shops and into a cab back to the Cosmopolitan. And, Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Jose Garcia…
This was one of my favorite moments of the entire trip. We hop into the cab, and Jose asks us if we like Frank. We say, “Of course”, and then he passes us a songbook and we sing “Fly Me to the Moon” all the way back to the hotel. We make it halfway through “Come Fly With Me” when Jose delivers us. We hop out and take a quick selfie with the best cab driver in Vegas… such a blast!
Jose somehow drops us at the front of the hotel, right near the famous Chandelier bar… so, Angela and I did the right thing and plopped down for a pre-getting ready Cosmopolitan. If you’ve never had a Cosmo at the Cosmopolitan, you’re truly missing out. Go have one!
After a quick fashion show in the room, we were ready to head out to Mandalay Bay for the big event. Angela and I have seen Kelly Clarkson together four times now, and we get a little giddy beforehand.
Having previewed the show for us in Denver, I knew that we could easily skip the first opening act so we wandered Mandalay Bay and had a quick pre-show cocktail… It’s Vegas, after all… and how fun is Red Square. We couldn’t resist.
Before we knew it, it was time to head to the venue… and we were so excited to see this show! Even though I had seen it the week before, I was so excited to see it again!
We had great seats, and right near some other lovelies that were big fans as well. Between the ladies in front of us and mega-fan Alfredo that was a few seats down, we were definitely amongst our people!
And, there’s just something awesome about dancing and singing with Angela for two hours while our girl Kelly performs… Amazing night!
As though that weren’t enough excitement for the night, we still had dinner reservations… at midnight at our favorite restaurant in Las Vegas – Firefly. Angela had her rehearsal dinner there years back, and we couldn’t miss out on an opportunity to hit up our favorite tapas place.
After a few small plates, we called it a night.
What a wonderful weekend though… not only did I get to visit one of my favorite getaway spots, but I got to spend the weekend with one of my favorite people… in celebration of her major accomplishment. Congratulations, Dr. Risto. Well done!
So long, Vegas… until next time!
