Weird things have been happening lately…
It’s been an awesome workout week. I seriously feel like describing this week’s efforts is worthy of the Work Out Wednesday (WOW) title! Of the past 8 days, I’ve worked out 6 times. Yep, I said SIX. Pretty impressive stuff… and more impressively, I’ve loved every minute of it (Weird Thing #1) and I feel myself more relaxed, more confident, and just plain HAPPIER.
It must be those endorphins… they’re FANTASTIC! I know many of you work out and love it and have for some time, but this is SUCH a new thing for me…
From sweating it out until I can barely breathe running my Couch to 5K intervals to virtually twisting myself into a pretzel at yoga to lifting a ton of weights on new machines that HURT… I’ve been ALL over working out this week and I have the biggest smile on my face when I accomplish each new feat.
I even did a double-header on Saturday. Ran my Couch to 5K in the morning and then went to my yoga studio after! Seriously!!! (Weird Thing #2)
One confession: I don’t pack my gym bag and take it to work as I planned week one. Why? Well, my house is on the way home from work. On my way home from work, I simply sneak home, change my clothes, and then go to the gym. It’s worked so far. If I see myself being lazy, I’ll start packing a bag. Until then, it’s all working.
And, that’s not the only reason actually. Probably the #1 reason I don’t pack the bag is that I HATE the locker room at the gym. Why is that place so disgusting?
Sorry, ladies… I don’t want to see you running around in your underwear braless while you dry your hair. Oh, and I also don’t want to see you weigh yourself naked. Maybe I’m totally conservative in this area, but I literally get grossed out everytime I go in there to use the bathroom.
COVER UP, PEOPLE! That’s my PSA for the day (stepping down from my soapbox.)
Weird Thing #3: Yesterday, I had major dental work done and I was still slightly numbed 4 (almost 5) hours later. I didn’t want to go to the gym numbed, and I hate the dentist. After the “mental anguish” associated with the drilling and whatnot, I opted out.
All the sudden, something weird happened. I ate my dinner (Can You Stay For Dinner’s Pork Tacos – Amazing!) and sat on the couch to watch Biggest Loser.
While the BL’s were doing some really crazy stuff (Did you see that??), I got the itch… the itch to go work out. Now, with a full belly and at nearly 8pm, the gym wasn’t going to be a possibility. However, the regret of not going was eating away at me.
WHOA… that’s a first.
Regret for not working out, and a making a mental note to work extra hard at the gym today. (Weird Thing #4) WHO AM I??? Don’t you remember the old posts where I used to drone on about how I didn’t want to work out and didn’t want to sweat?? (i.e. Can’t Get Physical) Oh, I love that this is all changing. Such a sweat NSV.
Weird Thing #5: I also love that my workout schedule is jam-packed right now with C25K, Yoga, and Strength Training… and that I’m being inspired to find a way to squeeze Spin back into my life lately. One of my fabulous FB friends is spinning her little heart out and reporting out on it daily… so motivating. I’ve got to get back on a bike. Maybe this weekend… Hmmm….
For whatever reason, I’m on a roll right now. I’m not sure if it’s the warmer weather or the fact that bathing suit season is just around the corner. Whatever it is, I love it… and plan to keep this workout spurt going!
