It’s that time of the month again! Time for my currently post! True story: I was traveling a lot in late March and missed my March Currently post, so I’ve got lots to catch you up on!
Current Travel Escapades
In April, I went on my first solo vacation… to Seattle, and fell in love with that city over the 36 hours I was there.
Strangely, I don’t have any trips in the distance… and I feel the need to work on that. 🙂
Current Fruit Find
I’ve met a new apple this month that I love! While I usually only prefer Honeycrisps, I tried the Opal apples from Sprouts and I’m in LOVE. Disclaimer: They taste NOTHING like golden delicious apples.
Current Nail Polish Obsession
I’ve picked a new polish, and it’s all I want: Essie’s Resort Romanza. It’s springlike and it looks like the color of my favorite tulips.
Current Flower Picks
With Summer approaching quickly, I’m completely obsessed with fresh flowers. When my favorite flowers are in bloom, I love keeping them in the house. When I spotted these tulips at the Pike’s Place Market in Seattle, I was SO disappointed I couldn’t buy them all!
Current Binge Watching
I’m SUPER late to the game on this one, but I’m totally watching Girls. I’m about halfway through the series and amazed by what I’ve seen thus far. It’s like a super gritty version of Sex and the City. I have a feeling I’ll miss it when it’s over… Oh, and by the way, I don’t care if you’re my best friend and you’re really sad, I don’t think it’s ok for you to get into the tub naked with me… that would just be weird (Season 2.)
Current Read
During most months, I’m lucky to read one book let alone two. And, I’d say that I didn’t just read these… I devoured them.
First, Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty – I loved this book, like big puffy heart in the sky kind of love. Like carry a boombox on my shoulders to get your attention kind of love.
I actually bought this book a million years ago and was inspired to read it after watching the first few episodes of the HBO series. Ok, if you haven’t watched the HBO series, read this book first. So good.
My friend Crystal recommended book number two… Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult.
In classic Jodi Picoult fashion, this book makes you THINK. Never in my life have I read a book that talked about racism and white supremacy to this extent. I read it in like 24 hours. When I wasn’t reading it… I was thinking about it and worrying about the main character. No spoilers, but an FYI: This book is intense.
Current Crossroads
When I was in Seattle, my hotel was at the corner of Lenora and Alaskan Way. My grandma on my dad’s side’s name was Lenora… and the sign was an incredible reminder of a wonderful lady. She’s been gone for a long time now, and to this day, I still miss her.
Current Art Project
Have you seen people decorating with cow skulls, in sort of a cool boho chic way? I’m obsessed with it.
I found a gilded cow skull on Etsy from a shop called My Secret Lite. I hung it on my fireplace, but there was something missing… flowers. And, with that, I found some pretty flowers and greenery to add to it from Hobby Lobby and World Market… and tada!
Current Fashion Find #1
As usual, I found my favorite fashion find of the month is one I picked up at Fabrik in Denver. They had a ridiculous sale this past week, and I picked up this cute, cute top. Now to find a place to wear it…
Current Fashion Find #2
Because I feel like I’m always at Target, my second favorite find of the month came from Target. How about this cute duster/kimono from Xhilaration.
Do you guys follow @TargetDoesItAgain on Instagram? She scours Target for cute things and shares them on Insta. I’m sure it’s not *too* hard to find tons of cute stuff to share.
Current Protein Creation
I cooked my first turkey breast on Easter, using this recipe and a digital probe thermometer to make sure it reached the right temperature. Being that it was my first turkey, I can’t even tell you how nervous I was to cut into it. With guests galore, I was sure that the bird would be over or under cooked, but thank goodness… all was delicious!
Current Beauty Find
Have you guys tried Lipsense yet? I’m such a fan of the product and it’s staying power. Here’s a few colors I’ve tried out over the past few weeks. You buy it though distributors – – I’ve been buying through Jillian (Check out her Instagram and Facebook pages for details!) PS…How great are these colors?? Hazelnut has been my go-to everyday color.
