March means Spring is here… and I tell ya, I couldn’t be happier. Colorado spring weather is erratic with 70 degree days followed by blustery wet blizzards.
But, the one thing that March (and April) promise is the arrival of Summer… and I cannot wait. Until then, let’s talk about March and what happened here during this green month.
CURRENT MOVIE
I’m working on a knitting project this month, which means that I have needed to sit still a little more than usual. With that, I’ve been taking advantage of the free movies on Amazon Prime Video this month, including this one.
It’s from the makers of How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and just a sweet little rom com, staring Julia Roberts’ niece. As a bonus, the referenced Little Italy is in Toronto (my new favorite city to the north!)
CURRENT SHOPPING TIP
PS: #NotSponsored just a raving fan
A few people have mentioned Honey to me in the past, and thought it was just another Retail Me Not or eBates. You guys, it is so much more!
Honey gives you a way to SAVE MONEY on your online shopping. How? You Ask
Honey proactively looks for the best coupon code for you to use on any of your online shopping escapades. Example: Let’s say you want to buy a sweater at my favorite online boutique Vici. After downloading the Honey plugin, you click on the little honey button on your toolbar, and it not only finds the 20% coupon that’s been published on the site, but also the super secret 30% + free shipping coupon no one knew about!!! Here’s an idea of how it works…
As an avid online shopper, I love the ease of using Honey and truly have saved a ton using it. Try it out! You won’t be sorry…. click here to check it out.
CURRENT INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY VIBES
This year was the first that I celebrated International Women’s Day. I work in an office with a lot of dynamic young women. I thought about bringing snacks to work… but in the spirit of 42 for 42, I figured that the last thing I needed was to promote cake or cookie eating. That being said, I opted for these cute succulents for the ladies in the office that inspire me every single day and paired it with a card thanking them for being awesome.
My point of sharing this isn’t to draw attention to what I did, instead to tell you that small gestures can really make a big difference in the lives of people you know (and that I think hand written notes are a lost art.) Any who, Happy International Womens Day to you lovelies…
CURRENT T-SHIRT ADDITION
In the spirit of International Women’s Day, I also bought a t-shirt that I normally wouldn’t pick up. It says: She Can She Will, and came from Target. I always feel that when you wear shirts like this the world hold you to some sort of expectation, and that you are a target of sorts… So what! I can and I will!
CURRENT AUDIOBOOK
Gosh, I’m on a roll with my female-forward things this month. I’m listening to Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis right now. Her much-awaited sequel to her famous self-help book Girl, Wash Your Face, this audiobook focuses on all those things that we need to stop apologizing for as women. I’m only a few chapters in, but looking forward to some great learnings. Note: I have MUCH preferred Rachel Hollis via audiobook as an alternative to eBooks.
CURRENT BEVERAGE
Have you guys tried the Aperol Spritz? They seem to be the hottest cocktail out there these days, and they taste like spring. I’m pretty sure Heather McMahan has something significant to do with this trend…
CURRENT ZIT ERASER
I suffer from occasional cystic acne. I’m 42 years old, and I still get zits!!!! They’re the WORST. My cystic acne flair ups are 100% tied to my diet, and eating greasy, non-healthy foods. When these bumps are forming, I know what’s about to happen. I’m about to get a painful bump that destroys my skin and lasts forever (often scarring as well.)
My friend Erin recommended I try hydrocortisone cream and mentioned that it totally works on her blemishes. You guys! It REALLY works. I picked up an inexpensive tube of maximum strength hydrocortisone cream at Target, and tried it out. Um, the zit was gone even before it began! I applied it a few times over the days that followed and (poof!) gone! If you suffer from cystic acne, seriously… try this! I’m a believer!
CURRENT SHEET MASK OBSESSION
Amongst us girls, I totally bought this mask because it was made with beets and it turned out to be THE BEST SHEET MASK I’ve ever used!!! Highly recommend it, and I picked it up at Target! Click here for the details.
CURRENT BEET SALAD OF MY DREAMS
Speaking of beets… I spent a few days in Las Vegas for work this month and wanted to have a nice dinner on the strip before the work event started. I pulled up Yelp looking for the best beet salad, and found this one at La Cave at the Wynn. It’s an amazing beet and burrata salada. Beneath the arugula is more mini roasted beets, and it’s tossed in a lemony vinaigrette. So so good.
CURRENT MUSIC EVENT
Because once just isn’t enough… I’m super psyched to see my girl Kelly Clarkson again this week for another round of her Meaning of Life Tour. She’s got a few cities left. If you haven’t seen her yet, I highly recommend it!!! As a bonus, I also get to spend some time with my girls. Can’t freakin’ wait!
CURRENT BOOK LOVE
Do you guys follow The Home Edit on Instagram? I’m such a fan of their organizing work and find Clea and Joanna to be hilarious and inspiring girl bosses! They released their first book this month, and after months of waiting for the pre-order to pop, it arrived!
As an added bonus, I’m going to see them on their book tour this weekend! I can’t wait to meet them!!!
CURRENT BABY SHOWER GIFT WRAP
My dear friend Karaliz is expecting TWINS this spring, and I wanted to do something special to wrap her shower gift. It was a large box, and I mean, how do you put a bow on a box that big? I got a little creative… and came up with this idea!
A few onesies, a few close pins, and a little yarn made the package look super cute. In case you have a large box like this, I thought I’d share the idea…
CURRENT FENDER BENDER
After leaving the baby shower, I headed to Target to pick up a few items… and after all the years and all the times I’d visited to Target. It finally happened. I got rear-ended in the Target parking lot. My (nearly) brand-new car now has a bit of a blemish. Thankfully, I’m not hurt nor was the other driver… but a quick reminder to all to look carefully behind you for rogue drivers that are not paying attention!
CURRENT WITCHY WINE
When my girls Stassi, Katie, and Kristen released their new Witches of Weho wine, I couldn’t resist trying it. It finally arrived this week… and it’s so fun! Can’t wait to see what Potion No. 2 is – – Naturally, I’m hoping for a rosé.
