I missed a month of Currently… mostly because I was wrapped up in work transitions and also because it’s taken me a few months to stabilize. I’ll share a little May in this June update too, because there’s been a lot of fun going on!
CURRENT CONCERT EXPERIENCE #1
My niece visited at the end of May for a few days. Truth be told, I had an extra ticket to Taylor Swift and couldn’t resist inviting her to join in on the fun.
Three weeks before the concert, I realized that I hadn’t yet listened to the Reputation album. Eeks! Having released a week after Kelly Clarkson’s fall album, I was a little distracted.
You guys, this album is INCREDIBLE. I fell in love with every song super quickly, and it’s been on repeat since I started listening. I will also add that the concert was beyond amazing. I’d never been to a concert in such a large venue. Taylor still made it seem completely intimate, and the production quality was insane.
Hailey and I had an absolutely blast… and I can’t wait until Tay (and Hailey) makes her way back to Denver again… I’ll certainly be there.
CURRENT CONCERT OBSESSION #2
As if seeing Taylor weren’t enough in the past six weeks, you guys… I also got to see KELLY.
Kelly Clarkson has participated in the Opening Ceremony of the Warrior Games for the past two years. It’s a competition-style event for wounded warriors and an incredible event.
This year, the Warrior Games took place at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. With Kelly performing SO CLOSE BY, you know I had to be there. The tickets to the event were FREE and when they became available, I jumped online and snatched up four tickets and invited three of my favorite gals to join me for the show.
I can’t even begin to tell you how great this show was. It was a full concert, and she played all of her hits as well as several songs from her new album.
Needless to say, my megafan status stood out in this crowd…
CURRENT FLOWER OBSESSION
I literally can’t get enough of peonies. Every week, I buy more. I do not want the season to end…
CURRENT TAILGATING ADVENTURES
Details for the warrior games ceremonies mentioned that tailgating was allowed. Naturally, we decided to participate, and the scene kind of made me laugh.
We had the sportiest tailgate ever – – Rosé All Day cocktail napkins with (of course) a bottle of rosé, apple & manchego bites with balsamic walnut butter, and Whole Foods cookies. Yep, we’re totally girlie girls…
CURRENT CIVIC DUTY
I also had jury duty this month… as if I haven’t had enough going on already. As usual, I was selected for a jury, and served for the day. While there’s something interesting about the process once you’re in it, I definitely look forward to having some time off before I have to serve again!
CURRENT SKIN CARE FIND
When Hailey was in town, I popped into a Lush store for the first time. I’ve always thought that it smelled a little too fragrant from the outside to go in. After getting a few products for my birthday (thanks, Melanie!), I knew I wanted to try more! This Rosy Cheeks mask has become a fave of mine, as it calms my sensitive skin. Store it in your fridge. Try it, love it!
CURRENT MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE
Hailey had an interest in getting up in the high country. When our trip up Mt. Evans failed, we decided to take a ride up Pike’s Peak! Pike’s Peak on a holiday weekend was a busy time… but the views made it so so worth it!
My new car handled the ride pretty well (despite fellow travelers riding their brakes the entire way down.)
CURRENT TRADER JOE’S FIND
My weekly food prep takes a bit of time, but I’ve gotten it to the point where it’s extremely manageable. Much of the speed to prep comes from leaning on a few convenience foods, most of which I find at Trader Joe’s. I had tried the pre-cooked Lemon Chicken, and picked up the Balsamic & Rosemary Chicken on a coworker’s recommendation… holy wow! This stuff is so good!
Note to self: I need to do a post of all my favorite TJ’s finds soon… so many staples there that I pick up every single week!
CURRENT TRAVEL DRESSING HOLDER
Taking a salad for lunch every day, I needed a few more dressing holders. I found these awesome containers on Amazon, and you guys… they’re better than the ones I already had. They don’t leak. The colors are cute, and they have a squirt top. LOVE. Click here to see the product details (affiliate link.)
CURRENT FASHION TREND
I am obsessed with neck scarves right now. I’ve found adorable ones at Free People, Madewell, and Old Navy. I try not to wear them every day, but it’s sooooo tempting. Here’s a few of my faves… the obsession has just begun.
This one is actually a Free People hair scarf and came with a scrunchie (that I haven’t worn yet.)
CURRENT 5K
As is tradition, we headed to Denver City Park at the beginning of the month to walk Jodi’s Race for Awareness, to raise awareness for Ovarian Cancer. We were a small, yet mighty team of walkers (and runners!) this year, and had a blast out there.
CURRENT SUNNIES
I just bought a new pair of sunglasses, and I’m obsessed with them. Inspired by my girl Crystal, who always has the best style, I had to have these Quay High Key sunnies (and do note the neck scarf)…
CURRENT FOOD FIND
While I don’t usually eat oatmeal, this 100 calorie Better Oats Oatmeal caught my eye at the store. I love anything Maple, and it just sounded so good. While I’ve not been eating it as a breakfast, I’ve been enjoying it as a sweet treat at the end of the night. So so good! I found it at my local King Soopers (Kroger) store.
CURRENT COLOR OBSESSION
I feel like I’m wearing yellow all the time right now. I found this top at my favorite Denver boutique, and I just love it. I love a flowy top in the summer…
CURRENT RESTAURANT EVENT
I also got invited to a summer menu preview at Snooze in Boulder this month. Have you guys ever been to a Snooze? They’re brunch is EVERYTHING. Such a great menu, and tremendous flavors… It was fun to have a sneak peek at their seasonal menu items including this Spicy Strawberry Margarita and Starburst Pancake. The new menu is available now! Click here to find a location near you.
CURRENT QUOTE
I ran across this quote in my notes from a yoga retreat a few weeks ago, and have been applying it to my life. Life is just to short to hold onto drama and grudges.
