November… it’s just about over, so it makes sense to wrap up the month with my traditional currently post. I hope you guys had an amazing Thanksgiving! I know I definitely did.
Lots of R&R over the long weekend, and some shopping… geez, the sales were incredible! Well, here goes…
Current Pretty Travel Pics
When October ended, I quickly deemed November “that month where I’d be home.” Yeah, if you follow my Instagram, you know that wasn’t the case.
I spent the front end of the month in Southern California at a user conference for work. Incredible time, beautiful hotel, and wow… this view was available every night with its pretty, pretty sunset. While I was exhausted when I left, I could easily watch this sunset forever.
Next stop on my adventures was a quick trip to Austin, followed up by a stop in Tampa, and then a quick jaunt to ATL. I hit all time zones this month, which I suppose is an accomplishment. As for a December, I plan to spend my time in just two.
Current Target Finds
Oh man, Target seriously has so many great things right now. It’s a little insane how much I convince myself that I need when I’m there. Pick any section really (well, maybe not kids/mens clothing, so almost any section) and I’ll find something…
Here’s two things I couldn’t resist this month:
Speaking of Target… do you guys use Cartwheel? Did you know that you should scan your Cartwheel app even when you know you’re not going to save anything? Why?
Because they’re tracking how much you spend and at certain intervals, you earn PERKS! Yep, cool free stuff. I just earned my first perk, and Target offered me a bunch of options for free stuff. Free movies, books, C9 workout gear, sheets, etc. Super random list… but I chose a book, this one, and yes, I’m 39.
But it was SIGNED, and I’m obviously a mega-fan…
Current Roasted Veggie Obsession
Have you guys ever roasted snap peas? I roasted them for the first time this month, and they were delicious! I’ll write up the details soon… you need to try these!
Current Makeup Dilemma
Have you ever heard anyone mention that sometimes you buy beauty products on Amazon and they turn out to be fake? Not the real product? Well, this happened to me about 4 months ago, I guess.
Here’s the situation: I thought I was buying Benefits Roller Lash… and the crazy part: I was wow’ed by how awesome it was! I was SURE it had been reformulated, because it was SO MUCH BETTER than the original.
Thrilled with my new long, full lashes, I knew it was time to replace my mascara for a fresh batch. I went to ULTA and picked up a tube, and you guys… completely different. So different that I took it back, and the lady at ULTA helped me connect the dots.
I tried to order a second from the same sketch place on Amazon… and it was the real kind again. So sad. If only I could find my fake mascara again… lol
Current Changiversary Update
In peeking at my calendar recently, I realized that it’s been a year since I left my job and headed out on a new adventure. Incredibly happy and having made a fantastic change for me, I share this in case you’re interested in taking a leap of sorts… maybe it’s time? For me, I was scared to death I was making a bad decision. Lots of nerves and worries, and my goodness, it couldn’t have worked out better.
I’ve gotten back into knitting again. It’s so relaxing, and there’s something fun about making woolen treats for friends and family.
Today, I’m working on a cowl that I started during the Super Bowl last year. Huh? You don’t knit during the Super Bowl? Excited to get back into it… and LOVING a new brand of yarn I found online called Wool and the Gang. Their yarn is simply delicious! The one in the pic above is called Wool Me Tender. Check out their site for more clever names…. love.
Current Thanksgiving Contribution
I spent Thanksgiving with some wonderful people this year, and I couldn’t resist bringing something healthy to add to the spread. I brought mini-wedge salads with homemade light ranch, center cut bacon bits, tomatoes, and chives. Yum!
Current Celebrity Spotting
For the second month in a row, I’ve got a celebrity spotting! What???
My company hosted Jay Leno at our annual user conference. So funny, and so nice that he posed for pics.
Current Vacation Anticipation
December is going to be a busy one for me, and I’m going to be on the road for a lot of the month. What that means is that I’ve entered the “one trip at a time” mode. Right now, all eyes are on my upcoming trip to Nashville for Donna’s 50th birthday bash! I can’t wait to get there to celebrate this fabulous lady!
Current Blogging Partnership News
You guys! I had a blogging FIRST this month. I hosted my first Instagram takeover! So much fun!!! I worked with my friends over at Jenny Craig to takeover their Insta and share detail of my Thanksgiving preparations. Check out the story here!
Thanks, Jenny Craig, for letting me share my travel plans on your page!
AND… if that weren’t enough! I’m announcing my Simple Inspirations recipe contest winner on the blog on Friday. And, it’s REALLY good. Like knock-your-socks-off good. Can’t wait to share!
Current Cooking Habits
I picked up a copy of Skinnytaste’s new cookbook late last month. It’s called Skinnytaste Fast and Slow because it has a ton of quick recipes (15 mins or less) + those cook-all-day-in-the-crockpot favorites.
Bottom line: Gina’s ONCE AGAIN created a masterpiece. I’ve tried the Egg Roll Bowls, the Banh Mi Bowls, the Slow Cooker Korean-Style Beef Tacos, and the Roasted Red Pepper Soup with Orzo – – All incredible. Seriously, add this one to your gift list. You’ll be happy you did.
Current TV Obsession
I spent Saturday watching Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. And, I loved every single second of it (well, maybe except for Summer. Not sure what happened there, but still loved the revival!)
I am not going to throw out any spoilers here, but I have SO MANY FEELINGS about how these 4 episodes played out… and of course, the final four words were INCREDIBLE. Oh, Stars Hollow, how I’d missed you and how you made me cry…
Now to watch it all again… and hope they come back for another year in the life.
Current Undergarment Obsession
I think I usually replace my bras in January… because the ones I have right now are in poor shape and in need of replacement. After being poked by an underwire for a few days, I knew it was time. I tried a new site for undergarments and their app. Have you heard of ThirdLove?
I heard about them here on the interwebz and you guys, they’re bras are AMAZING. They have a very generous return policy so you can try them on and make sure that it fits well, and they have an app that sizes you using an iPhone! I ordered the 24/7 pushup bra… and it just might be the most comfortable bra I’ve ever worn. Click here to try their site out. Note: The link to the site is a referral link so you’ll save $15 on your first bra, and I get $15 too! Just a fan… not sponsored.
Current Meditation Update
Do you ever feel like you’re not doing what you should be doing? That’s where I’m at right now… from a meditation standpoint, I need it. I crave it like a girl craves raw veggies after a holiday weekend, but I haven’t paused this weekend to do it. What the heck?
I made the decision to enroll in Headspace for the next year, and it’s time I start using it on the regular. It’s too good for me. It’s too grounding not to… That’s it. I’m doing it! 🙂
Current Plant Situation
Oops… I’ve done it again. I’ve killed the two succulents in my office. Just when I thought it wasn’t possible, they’re dead. Sigh
After some soul searching, I made the decision to replace the current real plants with fake succulents from Hobby Lobby. I think they’re lovely, and more importantly, I think this batch is going to make it….
Current Party Stress
I was supposed to be at an annual work meeting for my 40th birthday. I found out two weeks ago, that the work meeting has been pushed out, freeing me up to do whatever I want for my birthday now.
Um… I have less than 6 weeks to plan something, and while, of course, I’m available and my bags are packed, it takes my people a lot more than 6 weeks to assemble plan and embark upon an adventure. And, yes, we could do something later, but that’s lame… and not my birthday. Sigh.
If I don’t come up with a plan soon, know that I’ll be drunk alone at my house counting grey hairs as plan B. Let’s not let this happen, Kelly.
Current Cool Weather Find
I was shopping with my friend Melanie a few months back and we stumbled upon a ModCloth pop-up in Cherry Creek.
True Story: I’d never been to a pop-up before, but the concept was cool. They had every item and size available in the store to try on, but would ship any piece you wanted to purchase.
When I laid my eyes on this pretty plaid jacket, I knew it would be perfect to wear this fall. And, I wore it for the first time in chilly (yes, chilly!) Atlanta last week. So comfy and lightweight, yet warm.
I want to leave my Christmas tree up all year long. It’s been up 2 days, and I’m in LOVE.
