No, I didn’t say Whole 30, I said The Goal 30. And, it’s highly possible that you haven’t heard of it. Heck, I just heard about it for the first time last night! But, as soon as I read about it, I was hooked!!!
I follow a ton of people on Instagram (follow me here!) and one of the lovelies that I follow Diana posted that she was signing up for #TheGoal30 challenge. And, I decided to sign up too!
Now, stick with me here… I’m not a social media challenge person. And, in many ways, I don’t feel like I’m even a normal blogger. I don’t do picture challenges. I refuse to compete in Fitbit challenges. I don’t sign up for diet bets (well, I did once, but I quit). I’m just private about what I’m trying to achieve. I’m afraid of public failure. I feel like I’m letting people down when I don’t stick to things.
At the same time, I am a highly competitive person (I mean, I’m a Capricorn), but I don’t like to compete in things that matter to me. Maybe it’s because the stakes are too high… but I just don’t like to do it.
That being said, when I saw this post from Diana. It caught my eye.
The program was created by Arielle Says on Instagram (Follow her to hear more about her genius program + awesome weight loss!), and as I understand it, #TheGoal30 is all about setting 30 important goals for yourself in the upcoming month. Most involve self care, but it really can be anything you want it to be. The goal is to walk through the next 30 days achieving goals you set for yourself, resulting in you being happier and healthier at the end of the challenge.
Sign me up!!!
After seeing the list, I sat down with a piece of paper and a pen. And started to dream of what I could accomplish in the next month. There were a couple of themes that bubbled up instantly: I want to meditate more. I want to practice yoga and get this body moving again. I want to do things that feed my soul. I wanted to add things to the list that made me happy. And, I wanted to do some of those things that I’ve been telling myself I was going to do for a long time!
I picked up my pen… and very quickly began to jot down my ideas. I figured it would be hard to come up with 30 things, but in moments, I was at #30. And, I’m pretty proud of what I came up with.
I love that you create your own goals. You have a ton of freedom to focus on what matters most to you! And, while some type-A folks might go in numerical order, I plan to dance all over this list in whatever order I choose! That’s my kind of challenge!
Some of my goals are easy: #9 Research Meditation, #26 Knit Something Cute, #30 Get a Massage
Some of the goals are challenging: #20 Meditate 2x in a Day. #17 Take the Night Off From Tech, #10 – Walk 10K Steps
And, some are things I’ve been thinking about forever: #5 Walk Away the Pounds, #23 Take a Walk During a Conference Call, #6 Have an At-Home Dance Party (my friend Ruth challenged me to this months ago – – now accepting song suggestions!)
It’s not going to be simple by any means, but it’s going to be exactly what I need right now.
PS… The first item I’m crossing off this list? #28 – Blog about #TheGoal30. One down, 29 to go!!!
So, I’m embarking on #TheGoal30. And, I really would love it if you joined me (and the other men and women who have joined!) Good news: You can do this on your diet. You can do this if you have any kind of allergies. You can customize it to accommodate your injuries. You can fit it into your lifestyle.
You set the goals. You pick the things you’re going to accomplish.
Ok… Who’s going to join #TheGoal30 with me??? If you post your goals, please tag me. I’d love to see what you come up with! Thanks again to Diana for inspiring me to do this!!! xoxo
