I’ve been very noncommittal as it relates to Thanksgiving this year.
It’s not my favorite holiday of the year, and I’m just “thankful” to have the day off to relax… Practicing yoga on Thanksgiving morning and not having to set an alarm would certainly be enough celebration for me.
What I do love though… is a good challenge, and it came across my email last night. Not only have I been invited to a lovely Thanksgiving meal, but they also want to make it HEALTHY!!! Woo hooooooo!
So, I dug through my recipes to see what I thought would be the dishes I’d choose for said dinner, and here are a few ideas I have…
I’ve never made my own bird, but if I did I think Gina’s turkey would be a brilliantly easy idea… especially for this small party.
I’ve made quite a few sides over time, and I really think the sides are “where it’s at” when it comes to Thanksgiving. I love how the veggies show up as the star of the show, and they’re usually what I want to go back for more of…
Here’s a few of the recipes that I love, love, love that would be lovely on your table this Thanksgiving! Now, the combination of all of these will be a little much, but pick the ones that sound good to you and go for it!
If you’re going to splurge somewhere, the desserts are where I’d choose. The great news is you can make smaller desserts, that give you that “taste” of dessert that you’re looking for, without having a huge splurge. Here’s a few I’ve brought to Thanksgivings in the past.
PS.. Pier 1 has the BEST selection of mini dessert glasses in their “Tasting Party” collection…
General Thanksgiving Tips from NTTC
Regardless of where you’re dining, feel free to taste everything, but choose to consume and fill up on those items that are the most healthy on the table. For me, that means veggies and lots of them. Raw veggies and salad will make up half of my plate, and I’ll choose just a small amount of those decadent treats and lean white meat.
What healthy items are you looking most forward to this Thanksgiving??
