If life were a movie, which one would you want to live in?
If this question doesn’t make you flip back through your movie archive… I don’t know what else will. I couldn’t just pick one, but I did limit it to two (which took some effort!)
I’ll start with an old favorite that I just LOVE. I can’t even begin to tell you how many times I watched this movie. I actually recently purchased it and have it on DVD now, so the shagging can continue!
Shag: The Movie
If you’ve never seen Shag, I’m disappointed in you!!! Well, if you haven’t… get out there and watch it! It’s an awesome movie about the last summer together for four girls just out of high school. Each one has a different story and a different path… and they get themselves into quite a bit of trouble with the townies in Myrtle Beach.
Why I love this movie: The music, the beach, and the spirit of being young and free like that! It’s also reminds me of my girls from college. We spent so much time together…. and were so close knit like these four. I have such fond memories of those times!!
Why I think this movie suits me: I’m kind of like Pudge… having lost some weight and trying to fit into my new self. And frankly, I’d love to live in a time where I teased my hair into a bubble flip, knew how to shag, and wore scarves in my hair. Seriously.
My second movie seems like such an obvious choice for me. Another one that I adore… that I connect with on so many levels.
Eat Pray Love
Now, my dear readers… let’s not pretend like this is the best movie out there. However, let’s acknowledge that this is an AMAZING story. And, an AMAZING book. One of my all-time favorite reads, actually. Wait. I’d say THE all-time favorite read. I’ve read it twice and have listened to it on CD 3 times. Keep in mind, that’s 17 CDs… and often during long drives through Montana. Amazing, regardless.
Elizabeth Gilbert is the main character (and author) who goes through a heartbreaking divorce (I could skip that part) and then travels the world to find herself. I feel like I’m on that same journey… making myself stronger every day. Clearing out old cobwebs in my mind, and making new healthy habits.
Here’s a look at where Liz travels in this delicious story:
