I’ve learned very quickly not to underestimate the power of this conference. As I mentioned on Monday, I didn’t really know what it would have to offer me this year… and I stumbled upon a WHOLE LOT of newness that I never would have expected!
Here’s a few of them to give you a gist of what I’m talking about. New and unexpected things happen at Fitbloggin…
Now, I could very easily tell you about the conference chronologically… but what fun is there in that? So predictable 🙂
I Fell in Love with … Pinot Noir
Yep, I’ve crossed over to the other side. For years, Pinot Noir has been that wine that I would drink, but I really didn’t like. We had a chance to visit a few wine bars and restaurants that had the most delicious wines from the Williamette Valley. And, just like that… I fell in love. The label above is one that Lauren and Greg visited during their winery tours on Thursday… my favorite of the trip!
I cried in not one, but TWO Fitbloggin sessions
Last year, I zipped my lips and said nothing in the sessions. My job was to listen and to soak it all up. This year, when I opened my mouth to talk about some of the most personal topics I own, the waterworks proceeded totally unexpected.
I even earned a gorgeous peony for my tears, as did all the criers in a session called “When You Have a Lot to Lose.” Yep, I was amongst friends, and this pic was taken after I “ugly-cried.” More to come on this emotional surprise soon… I think the topic may deserve a post of its own.
I finished an INSANE Trampoline Class!
I talked about this class last week, mentioning that I was scared. Um, it was INTENSE. I am proud as can be that I finished the class and did my best. Check that shiz off the bucket list! Done and done!!
Very quickly, I realized this class was different than any other class that I’ve ever taken in my life and clearly attacked a whole set of muscles that I apparently don’t usually use. Still today, it hurts to sit down, to stand up, to pick things up off the floor… yeah, it kicked my butt!
I had my VERY FIRST food truck experience!
In Portland, food trucks are in permanent locations in the downtown area. In these little “pods”, you can find 15-20 vendors selling all of their decadent snacks. What did I eat?
AN AMAZING WAFFLE!
After my BLT Waffle Slider recipe from last week, I’ve had a weird fascination with all the other things I can make with waffles. My guy at The Gaufre Gourmet food truck hooked me up with an “ABC” Waffle – – Avocado, Bacon, and Camembert with a fig sauce. Yes, please!
I also had my eyes on Indian food, Thai food, grilled cheese… there were so many options. Food Trucks, we shall certainly meet again!
I totally met the Real-Deal Laughing Cow
Loved this moment after the Jumpsport class (note the sweatiness) when I got to meet the Laughing Cow. There’s always time for a photo op with my favorite red cow!
Laughing Cow also sponsored a yummy snack break with all of my favorite veggies and some yummy pita crisps. I needed this snack badly, considering all of the non-healthy food that went in my body… it felt GREAT to have some normal food. Phew!
Oh, and they had the White Cheddar flavor on hand for us to try…. Amazing! I hear it’s only available at Sam’s right now. Have you tried it yet?
And, I won a BIG Drawing!
How about I won the Nutralite drawing on the final night of the conference?? First winner, and I won the best prize…
An iPad Mini – – SERIOUSLY??
I never win anything like this… and two seconds before the chef called my name, I leaned over and told Lauren to take my pic when I won. Act as if, they say… and it worked!
Truth be told… I was high-fiving all the way up there and could have given an acceptance speech when I got to the front of the room! Yep, that’s how I win… sort of loud and big!
What NEWNESS did you find at Fitbloggin? Any NEW things happening on the homefront?
[…] I’ve talked about my trip to Fitbloggin quite a bit, but I don’t think I’ve had a chance to tell you how incredibly generous the conference sponsors were. […]
