By now, you know I love beauty products. Anything that makes me feel pretty… I’m in! Including but not limited to: fun accessories, cute clothes, massages, facials… I love it all!
I’ve had my eyes on lash extensions for a while, and a few weeks ago, I decided to go for it! Here’s why: I absolutely love wearing fluffy and fabulous lash strips. They’re so pretty!!! But, I don’t wear those every day… and most days, I’m lucky to get mascara on my lashes. And, I’m super messy with it.
So, the idea of a permanent, long, glamorous lash sounded like such luxury… So I went for it!
I started with Google. After all, Google knows everything… and, I came across a fabulous salon called Lash in the Larimer Square area of Denver. They had availability when I wanted, and they even had an offer for 50% using a technician in training. I jumped at the opportunity!
And these were what they had to work with. My lashes aren’t skimpy, but like my hair… they’re fine. What that means is that I glob them up with a ton of mascara for them to look full and fancy. They ask you to arrive with no eye makeup on, so this is the real-deal, without mascara below.
I had booked my appointment for the afternoon with Sarah, who was finishing up a set of lashes when I arrived a few minutes early. It gave me a few minutes to sit back and relax before the service. Check out how cute this place is…
Also while I waited, they encouraged me to enjoy a glass of champagne, wine, or water… and to put on their cute knit socks to keep my feet warm during the service. They also offer a complimentary brow wax as part of the service as well… I felt so pampered!!
The services take place on these super comfortable beds. While your technician works on your lashes, you kick back eyes closed listening to your favorite Pandora station. Sarah picked the “Easy Listening” station for me after I told her I wanted to just chill out as she worked… and it was an awesome mix of Adele, John Mayer, and throwback Brat Pack tunes. Loved it!
The process itself, depending upon what service you select, takes between 1-2 hours for the initial application. I had chosen the “luxurious” service, so I settled in for 2 hours while Sarah went to work.
The process itself is completely painless. It’s a little awkward when they tape down your lower lashes… but that’s virtually the only part that feels weird.
Truthfully, I fell asleep. I don’t even know how that happened, but I totally did… for at least an hour. (I may even be asleep in this picture that Sarah captured for me!)
Here’s the progression of the before and after. It’s pretty significant, if you ask me!
So.. what did I think? Well, walking out of the place, I felt like this! Super sassy!
So, when you leave, they send you with little eyelash brushes that you can use to comb through the lashes. They recommend that you don’t use any oil based products around the eye area (including mascara!) and that you wash your lashes using a baby shampoo. Easy peezy.
The hardest part from me was to be conscious of not rubbing my eyes. Apparently, I do this quite a bit! Other than that… it was a pretty simple process! Most days, I loved skipping mascara… and loved the look I got from these extensions!
Similar to acrylic nails, these extensions require that you get them “filled in” after about 2-3 weeks. The extensions fall out at the same rate as your natural lashes. So, when it’s time to shed a lash, the extension would just go with them. It’s also more obvious when they fall out because of the length. So, you’ll notice as you lose them… and if you’re like me, you’ll be sad to see them naturally fall out!
After two weeks, my lashes were ready for a fill. Initially, I scheduled an appointment to get them filled, and then in the end decided to get them removed after looking at my schedule for the summer.
Truth be told, I don’t really have time for another recurring beauty treatment. Between pedicures to keep my toes presentable to regular massages to keep my back in check, my Saturdays are pretty booked. So, I made the decision to have them removed. This process was super easy, also painless, and also really relaxing. I think it’s those beds, and how awesome Sarah is!!
If you’ve ever contemplated trying lash extensions, I definitely recommend giving them a shot. If you’re in Denver, I definitely recommend the lovely ladies over at Lash!
Note: This is not a sponsored post, just a story about trying a new service.
