My birthday was last week. Last Saturday to be exact.
I love a good birthday, and this year, I had a total blast!! I spent my birthday eve with a group of fabulous ladies enjoying delicious Indian cuisine.
And, I spent my actual birthday wandering the Denver Art Museum and drooling over Cartier diamonds.
Despite the awesome time I had and while I highly identify as Capricorn, I hate having an early January birthday.
I can’t stand it.
As a kid, my parents made sure not to combine gifts and they always made sure I had a great day. My issue with having a January birthday is how it plays into my new year’s plan.
While I still haven’t made New Year’s Resolutions yet for 2015, I’m 100% committed to eating healthier in the new year… and so far, it’s working! During the first 9 days of the year, I’d already lost 4+ lbs! OMG…
So, when it was birthday time, I was a little bummed. Not because I didn’t want to spend two lovely days with my dear friends, but, moreso, because I didn’t want to be dining out. When I’m on a healthy eating streak, the LAST thing I wanted to do is pause it…
But… I did it. I hit pause. I went out for two big dinners, drank wine, and even ordered a piece of decadent chocolate cake on Saturday night…
And, the best news of all, I got up on Sunday morning and got right back to it. I got right back on plan, determined to drink all the water on the planet, if that’s what it took to flush all that extra salt out of my system.
I’m happy to report, I bounced back like a champ… and was down for the second week in a row. Down 5 pounds since the first of the year. I’m super-thrilled with that, and the fact that I got to celebrate my birthday with some wonderful people.
What a great weekend!!
