I used to have a retro iPod Nano. It was square, tiny and red… and I loved it.
And, last month… we parted ways.
While the device is no more than 3 inches square, it really played an important part in my life. It held all my favorite tunes, allowed me to watch movies on its tiny little screen, and allowed me to drown out the sound of many a’crying baby while flying.
After looking for a few weeks for the little guy, I decided that I needed to replace it. Apple has so many more options for music now, but I went back to the ol’ Nano once again. This time, I chose this pretty, pretty green color.
Why didn’t I get an iPod Touch? Why not just use my phone while I’m at the gym? Well, I like to completely disconnect. I don’t like to see text or email come in… and I certainly don’t want to take a phone call. I just want to workout, and the simplicity of an iPod Nano lets me do this.
So far, the new Nano has been treating me really well. The upgrade to a touch screen is pretty nice as well. But… it seems like I need even more of an upgrade to my playlists…
I’ve been working out to the same playlist for the past two years. I’ve been adding songs, and now it’s got 105 songs on it. But, I’ve outgrown my playlist. Yes, I still love some of the songs… but I need something new to listen to. Some new songs to surprise me while I’m lifting weights or in an intense circuit.
I did some googling to see what people are recommending and compiled a short list of what sounded like it could keep me moving on the treadmill and elliptical. I also skimmed some of my all-time faves from my previous list… and I feel like I have a good 25 songs to get me started.
I’ll be honest though, I feel like I’ve missed some amazing songs that I NEED on this list. So, I’m reaching out to you guys.
What song gets your blood pumping and makes you work even harder in the gym? I feel like I’m missing a lot of 90s throwbacks that could be included, some classic rock-n-roll that needs to be on here… Looking forward to seeing what you recommend to help me round out this list.
