1099 Days Later {and a GIVEAWAY}

The fact that it’s been three years STILL blows my mind.

1099 Days Later | No Thanks to Cake

Friday marked the three-year anniversary of starting on the Jenny Craig program and beginning this little ol’ blog of mine.

When I think back to how this whole thing got started, I’m really surprised that I made it through and I’m mostly GRATEFUL.

Mostly, I’m amazed that I have kept the weight off for the most part.  Truth be told, I’m up about 10 pounds over the past 6 months or so, but I still consider this process a win.  And, while I’m about 20 pounds from my goal, I try not to focus on that.

1099 Days Later | No Thanks to Cake

One thing I’ve learned over the past few years is that I cannot and will not be controlled by three numbers.  I just can’t.  I’ll use them as a gauge… I’ll always check in with my scale to make sure things are around where I want them to be, but I’m done with being a slave to 165.

When I think back upon my life, it’s always been about losing the weight.  It’s always been about that number, and my efforts to get there.  In some weird way, I mistook that for my purpose.

1099 Days Later | No Thanks to Cake

While I’ll always appreciate the BEFORE, the AFTER has changed my life and opened my eyes to all that is out there.  I now know that my purpose is SO MUCH MORE than I ever thought it to be.  Once you check one off one of your dreams off your list, it makes room for the others.

Truth be told, I started seeing a life coach about two weeks ago.  I’m sure I’ll write more about it in upcoming weeks… but it’s all about achieving my purpose, exploring my passion, capturing my dreams, and living my new life as an “after.”

Passion Bracelet Fierce Forward | No Thanks to Cake

You may remember me posting the fabulous Fierce Forward “Passion” bracelet I wear, a few weeks ago.  That’s all part of the process I’m going through now.  And, slowly but surely… I feel it working.

My friend Ashley over at Fierce Forward offered to give one of her GORGEOUS bracelets away as part of my annual “NTTC Blogiversary Giveaway.”  So, you have a chance to win one of your own!!

Fierce Forward Bracelets | No Thanks to Cake

The bracelet that we chose to give away is the PURPOSE bracelet.  Not only is it beautiful, handmade by the artist, and made from limited edition African trade beads, but also its message is powerful, and one I thought would resonate with a lot of you.

Purpose Fierce Forward Bracelet | No Thanks to Cake

This pretty piece is part of the Limitless Collection, which offers you  ’7 steps to any goal.’ Not surprisingly, purpose is the first step. After all, You have to have a clear purpose to move forward towards your goal/vision.

Before After | No Thanks to Cake

I fully know that had I not put a strong plan in place to lose the weight, I would have still been a BEFORE.  With the support of my family, friends, and all of you lovelies… I’ve been able to make this three-year journey a reality!  Thanks for being with me every step of the way!

My purpose is to continue in the journey…but now, I have company. It was my goal this year to bring my family (kicking and screaming) on board for a new, healthy lifestyle. We have our ups and downs, but for the most part, we’ve stayed on task. Sunday dinner is always fruits, veggies and healthy choices instead of high calorie comfort food and it is our one day a week where we all contribute to the meal. We’ve joined a kickboxing gym that we attend together (butt-kicker) and I am the most proud to say that my 4th grade daughter has not had one single Lunchable this school year. We’ve incorporated the red light, yellow light and green light foods instead of “good” and “bad” and removed the word “diet” from our vocabulary. My middle daughter is doing her school community project geared around the “Challenge America” and hopes to address the issue of childhood obesity in her school. From where we were this time last year to now..that is what I am most proud of!
