Fashionable Workout Gear

Those of you who have been reading NTTC for some time know that I sometimes need a little push to get to the gym.  For me, that can be a friend going with me, a new class to try a the gym, or sometimes, even a new look.
I’m not going to say that I wear makeup when I’m working out or that I fix my hair for the occasion… but I do like to look cute when I’m getting my sweat on.  Especially after dropping 65+ lbs, I don’t like to be in loose t-shirts and sweats anymore.  I like to be in form fitting clothes when I’m working out.  That way, my clothes don’t get in my way… or slow me down!
I also love to accessorize.  At the gym, that might mean a new sparkly headband, a new pair of yoga pants, or even a new pair of shoes!  It’s the little things that help complete my workout look, and check out my newest pair of shoes.  So excited about them!

Now, let’s talk about these shoes.  These running shoes are super sparkly – - more sparkly than any other sneakers that I’ve worn before.  They have a shimmery, iridescent look as well… so incredibly fun!

At first glance, I was a little concerned that these shoes may be more for fashion than for function, but I was wrong.  They’re lightweight, but designed to be really supportive.  They look great peeking out from under a pair of yoga pants, or with leggings.  Click here for more details and to order your own pair!

Meet Ellie: Down to Earth Clothing Review

My friends at Ellie reached out a few weeks ago, asking me to review their latest clothing line.  And, being the   wannabe fashionista that I am, I couldn’t resist.

Ellie is a clothing line that I first met at Fitbloggin 2012.  Their clothing line takes a fashion forward approach to fitness, and is designed to get you excited to workout knowing that you look fabulous!

Ellie Clothing Review | No Thanks to Cake

The way it works is that they release a new line every month, with pieces produced in limited amounts.  This way, you’re less likely to run into someone wearing the same gear you are – - Genius!

There are two ways to shop Ellie.  You can purchase individual items, or you can subscribe monthly and get two items for just $49.95.

I tend to just buy the pieces I like, since I have way too many workout clothes.  But, if you’re new to working out, or need to spice up your workout gear, I’d recommend subscribing!

The clothing line that I had a chance to pick from is called DOWN TO EARTH and is gorgeous!

When they asked me to pick pieces, I knew exactly what I wanted.  I’ve started getting into colored workout pants… they’re so fun, afterall!  So, I picked a gorgeous fuschia pant and long-sleeved grey cutout top.

I love the details of this outfit.  The calf cutout is so cute, and the open back of the shirt is just adorable.

I can’t even tell you how hard it is to get a cute pic of the back of the shirt, but I think you see what I mean.  Just adorable.

And, check out the sleeves.  I can’t get enough of these thumb-hole looks that warm your hands on cool fall days.  LOVE!

Whenever I wear Ellie clothes, I always feel super-stylish at the gym, and most times… someone stops me to say they love the look.

My only issue with the gear is that I had to wear nude-colored panties under the fuchsia pants.  When I wore black, you could kind of see them.  No big deal… worth it to switch to nude for the cuteness the pants deliver…  I also felt a little self conscious with just a sports bra on underneath and opted for a tank underneath the second time I rocked the look.

Ok… here’s two ways you can try Ellie that I’d recommend:

1.   Ellie is running a GIVEAWAY where they’re giving away one free outfit + a yoga DVD kit.  Click here to enter to win!  Awesome way to try out a cute new workout look, if you ask me!

You know how I love yoga… how awesome would it be to win this 12 DVD set and 108-day yoga program!  Such an awesome prize!  And, as I mentioned yesterday… Adam does yoga.

2.  Readers of NTTC have a chance to save 20% on their purchases.  Click on the ad below to access this offer and try Ellie for yourself!

Thanks, Ellie, for letting me try out this awesome new workout look… I can’t wait to see what you come up with next month as well!

Sponsored Post Disclaimer:  Ellie provided me with free workout clothes in exchange for my review of their product.  While the clothing was free, my review of the product is based solely on my opinions and personal preferences.

Biggest Loser Makeover Week

Did you guys watch Biggest Loser this week?  It was my ABSOLUTE favorite episode of the season… it always is.

Makeover Week!!!

The contestants looked UH-Mazing!  My absolute favorite of the bunch was Gina.  How stunning did she look??? She is not my favorite contestant… but that blue dress?  Nice work, Tim Gunn!

Danni, the contestant I relate most too, also rocked it and just looked so COMFORTABLE in her skin.  Her words during the reveal were really telling.  She talked about the fact that she’d changed her life… and that she didn’t realize how bad it was until she started her program.

I loved Jackson’s new look, and I KNEW that Jeff was going to look great.  From the very beginning, he was one to watch with those pretty blue eyes.  Last but certainly not least… the kids.  They looked SO GREAT!  I loved each of their style expression, and especially loved Sunny’s reveal look – - She looked so CONFIDENT!

Now, I didn’t have the professionals involved this weekend, but I did have a little mini makeover of my own…

BEFORE

After month of going closer to my natural hair color, I decided it was time to stop the insanity and bring on SPRING!  And, I felt like a little retail therapy might also be a nice pick me up!  After spending a few hours in the chair transforming my hair color, I headed to JCPenney to see what they had for me.

Yes, I said JCPenney.  Yeah… I hadn’t shopped their since I moved out of my parents house, but after reading Skinny Emmie‘s posts recently, I wanted to check it out!

Here’s my before look (after my hair appointment, of course.)  Oh… and the photography below?  Totally my own work.  Mad skills, I know…

Shirt: H&M, Jeggings: New York & Company, Boots: Forever 21

I found some super cute workout clothes!  That’s why I was there… Emmie had talked about the Xersion line, and I LOVED it!  They have bold flourescents and 80s inspired mesh sweatshirts (LOVE!)

Wore this cute shirt to the gym last night. I’m going to have to get it in another color too… cute, cute

I think this is supposed to be worn to workout… but I like it as a top with jeans, too!

Continuing to channel the 80s,  I NEEDED a fluorescent infinity scarf too… I’m always a sucker for accessories, afterall.

Trying not to laugh at myself for taking pics… Let me assure you, this fab scarf will be worn with more than my cami…

Last but not least, I found the CUTEST dress for spring.  I’m thinking that I can wear this work on Fridays with a sweater, or maybe out to dinner.  I can’t wait for it to be warm enough to wear it!!!

Imagine it without that weird belt. It will be replaced…

A walked out with a nice little bag of clothes at a FRACTION of the cost I usually spend on new pieces.  I was SO excited!

Not a bad little shopping spree…

Overall, I think the new JCP is worth checking out!  I picked up workout clothes, a few little staples, and that cute dress!  Thanks, Skinny Emmie for the suggestion!

Have you tried the new JCP?  Thoughts?

Boxes Everywhere and a {GIVEAWAY}

No.  I’m not moving, but I do seem to be collecting boxes.

There are so many companies out there right now that are running monthly subscription services, where you get a box each month with fun products in them.  Over the past few months, I’ve actually received THREE and have been meaning to tell you about them.

All three of the companies reached out to me to have me review their products, so I’m excited to share my thoughts!  AND… one of the three (my favorite) is offering you a chance to get your own box for free!!

PV Body

PV Body was one of the first companies I worked with who offered a subscription service.  Their concept was to provide high quality workout clothes from some of the top names in workout gear for a flat rate of $49.95 per month.  I actually met this company at Fitbloggin, and they were kind enough to send me a free box.

From their website, you take a very quick style quiz… sharing your sizes, fit preferences (cropped pants v. shorts, tanks v. long sleeves, etc), and how you workout (running v. yoga, etc.)

Their stylists pick out an outfit for you, and mail it to you in a shiny pink envelope.  Kind of fun!

Truth:  The first outfit I received didn’t even come close to fitting, but it was gorgeous high quality Nux clothing.  What you see above is my replacement outfit, which fit perfectly and I loved.

The top is a super comfortable t-shirt from 15 Love, and the pants are great leggings from American Apparel.  Because I had sizing challenges, they also sent me a super-cute water bottle.

My Review:  I was REALLY impressed with the products I received, and I love the idea of getting new workout clothes monthly.  You can even snooze your order, so you can skip a month if you feel you are receiving too much.

Important Note:  They are about to change their product offering beginning next month, switching from sending name-brand clothing to their own line called Ellie.  I haven’t seen this product yet, but PV Body assures that it has outstanding quality at affordable pricing.

To sign up for PV Body, click here on this link.  Doing so, you’ll actually receive a 20% discount for signing up through this review.

Klutch Club

Klutch Club boxes come filled to the brim with $50 worth of nutrition, beverage, supplement, skincare, and fitness products for just $16-$18 a month.  The boxes are built specific for men or women, with different products based upon the box you choose.

Klutch Club is perfect for folks that are health-conscious and interested in sampling products from new brands.

I ordered the “Best of” Box, and was excited for it to arrive.

Check out all that loot!  The box was packed with so many different things:  All natural energy drinks, soap samples, a dehydrated seaweed salad, vitamin supplements, teas, and so much more.

The only problem:  It was received by the pickiest human being on the planet (yours truly) who wasn’t going to eat any of it.  I was thrilled with the Yurbuds headphones (which I started using immediately), but the rest of the items… I wasn’t sure what to do with them.

So… I did what any blogger does, and I posted on Twitter that I had an awesome box of goodies to offer to someone who’d be interested in trying them.  Samantha at Never Say Never responded within seconds, and was the final recipient of my box (minus the headphones since they’d already been in my ears.)

My Review:  This is a great product if you are someone who likes to try new “all natural” products.  If you’re a little squeamish about trying this kind of stuff, skip it.

Nature Box

It is my extreme pleasure to introduce you to Nature Box!

This box was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE of the bunch, and the one that I’m offering as a giveaway today!  Nature Box sends you a VERY generous box of nutritionist-approved snacks to your door monthly for just $19.95 a month. AND… Use the coupon code SNACKHEALTHY and your first box is only $10 (Limited time only!)

Now that you know how it works, let’s take a peek inside the box they sent me…

A full-color card described each of the snacks in the box

There were FIVE full-sized snack bags!

My Nature Box contained:

  • Pistachio Power Clusters – My absolute FAVORITE of the bunch.  Crunchy with a combination of sweet and salty.  SO GOOD!

  • Dried Pears – I have been on a pear kick lately, so these had perfect timing.  They were full pear slices, and chewy deliciousness.  The only thing that was a little strange is that some of the pears still had the seeds in them… don’t worry though, it didn’t slow me down at all!
  • Lemon Pucker Pistachios – I LOVED these too!  They were slightly tart, lemony pistachios… which I’d never had.  I snacked on these at work and they were very filling and delish!
  • Masa Crisps – These vanished quickly.  It said you could eat these with hummus or on salad or in soup.  I wish I had done that… I just ate them alone, and to me they tasted like super-crunchy tortilla chips.

  • Wild Blueberry Flax Granola – I actually didn’t eat this one, but gave it to a co-worker who is very health conscious.  He said it was on the sweeter side, but that he still loved it.  It is described as being packed with antioxidant rich wild blueberries and flaxseeds.  I have no doubt it was delicious as well!
Needless to say, this box REALLY made my week!  BUT… that’s not all, the wonderful folks over at Naturebox have generously offered a free box to one of my fabulous readers!
Here’s your chance to get ONE MONTH of amazing, FREE healthy snacks to try.  To enter, use the Rafflecopter box that appears below.

And, you have another chance to win if you visit my friend Lauren’s blog, who is also running the same giveaway.

Note:  Nature Box, Klutch Club, and PV Body provided me with the products above for this review; however, the opinions expressed above are my own.
