Re-Branding Update

A few weeks ago, I shared with you guys that I’m looking to rebrand NTTC

No Thanks to Cake Tagline | No Thanks to Cake

There were so many great suggestions, but I’ve picked one that’s going to be my tagline moving forward.

Rebranding NTTC | No Thanks to Cake

I just loved this one, and it’s going to be incorporated into not only my blog header and other PR documents.  Now, it won’t be an overnight process because I’ve got to engage the professionals to do all the fancy WordPress work behind the scenes.  Just the same, I can’t wait to see the final product.

Kenlie – - Thanks for coming up with just the right words for the tagline, when I was struggling!  Your Target gift card will be on its way!! xoxo

As far as NTTC is concerned, expect to see a lot of the same great content, just framed a little nicer with the addition of Kenlie’s genius tagline…

Rebranding NTTC + a {GIVEAWAY}

I’ve been thinking about it for the past few months that I’m ready to rebrand “No Thanks to Cake” ever so slightly…

One of the most common questions I get about No Thanks to Cake is about how I came up with the name.  So, if you’ve wondered the same, and haven’t asked… here goes.

There was a period of time where cake was something I never was really able to say no to.  It was ever-present in my office building, around every corner for a celebration of a birthday or a success, and it always took everything in me to say no to that slice of sugary goodness.  Very rarely did I choose me, but I often chose cake.

When I joined Jenny, I decided to break up with cake, if you will… and to say “no thanks” to all the sugary treats that had been my kryptonite for so long.

Fast forward three years… and I still don’t eat much cake.  In most cases, I’ll say “no thanks” or pick the smallest of small pieces.  I’ve also learned many tricks about making cakes taste absolutely delicious, despite having some sneaky low-fat ingredients.  I’ve figured out a way to make it work… and, I’ve indulged in many a Jenny Craig cake over time as well.

The thing is, while life is incredibly fabulous, there is still time for dessert.  Yep, I said it… Dessert has certainly taken a new form, but there is always room.  After all, if there weren’t desserts in my world, you never would have seen these yummy recipes (Click on the pics to see the full recipes!)

Now that we’ve established I eat dessert,

I am forever grateful to each of you for reading this blog… and you know the essence of No Thanks to Cake:  the weight loss stories, the healthy recipes, and all my randomness.  So, I’m asking you to help me re-brand No Thanks to Cake’s tagline.  Here are a few ideas that we came up with… I don’t love any of them…

“Making great choices since 2010″

“Choosing a healthy lifestyle never felt so great”

“Where the food is healthy and the sky’s the limit”

Leave your suggestion for a new tagline to replace “Where Life Is So Fabulous There’s No Time for Dessert”… and the selected tagline will receive a $20 gift card to my favorite store on the planet – - Target.

My friends and I have tried to come up with a new tagline… and ended up with nothing!  So, I thought I’d toss it out to you guys!!!  Get creative, and thanks so much!!!!

What do you think a great tagline would be for NTTC?  I’ll keep this open until next Monday, March 31 or until we have a winner!  Thanks, Everyone!!!

A Tiny Piece of My Passion {GIVEAWAY}

When I was designing my blog, I hadn’t yet begun practicing yoga, but I wanted something active to show at the top of the page.  I went back and forth between a silhouette of a girl that was running and the image you see now of a girl in Warrior 2.

I like to think that it was my soul that chose the yoga girl, as though it knew the Proud Warrior was exactly the right image for what I wanted to become.

Since then, I’ve spent many an hour at the yoga studio.  And, I’ve fallen in love with it.

I’ve practiced Blindfolded Yoga and enjoyed Yoga in the Yard with friends.  I found myself mesmerized by Candlelight Yoga and even practiced Yoga with the Dolphins during a trip to Las Vegas…

Most of all, my yoga practice has become this beautiful escape.  For that one hour during the day, I can completely escape my thoughts, my to-do list, and just BREATHE.  It is the most healing 60 minutes I spend in any given day.

Right before Christmas, I was introduced to a new company called Affirmats, and I just loved their mission and their products.  Their beautiful, beautiful mats are emblazoned with amazing mantras to motivate you through your practice.  The type of mantras that can transform your practice… and I knew I had to have one.

Isn’t this mat amazing?  I practiced on my Affirmat for the first time on January 1, and I really felt like it helped me push through my planks in a way I never expected!  Not only are the mats beautiful, but they are motivating!

Other facts about this gorgeous mat… it’s Eco-Friendly, Non-Toxic, and Slip Resistant.  And, AWEsome!  Especially since it even motivated me to practice at home… with Jillian Michaels!  Whoa… it has magical powers, as well!

How I Spent My Thanksgiving + {GIVEAWAY}

This holiday long weekend was ABSOLUTELY DELIGHTFUL.

I didn’t realize how much I needed a few days to just “be,” but I needed it desperately…

The Holiday

I spent the actual Thanksgiving Day with my friend LaDawn and her husband Dana who made the most delicious feast for us to enjoy, and who kindly slaved over the kitchen while LaDawn and I got our yoga on.

After our practice, we’d worked up quite the appetite!  Dana wanted to keep the meal relatively healthy, which was perfect for when you invite NTTC to dinner.  I brought my favorite broccoli-quinoa casserole and individual salads built to each guests veggie preferences (easier said than done!)

Highlights of the meal were Dana’s roasted veggies which will be featured here on NTTC soon and a crustless pumpkin pie!

I’m not a huge pumpkin pie fan, but the more I eat it… the more I feel ok about it.  This one was tasty!

How was the rest of the weekend?

In a word… PRODUCTIVE!

For the first time in years, I’ve finished my Christmas shopping prior to December 1.  And, I’ve already shipped the first few boxes out! UNHEARD-OF ! I even have a few more that are packed and ready to go that I’ll wait to ship until a little later in the month.

I’ve also finished decorating for the holidays… putting up my tree and even hanging some ornaments above the fireplace…

I knitted two scarves for holiday gifts…

And I even put together my Secret Santa gift for the Fitbloggin Secret Santa exchange (love this idea!)

And… while I won’t share pics of  it, I organized the heck out of my home this weekend.  I know.  That sounds REALLY wild and crazy, but I REALLY don’t like to live in disorganization.  It drives me crazy… and I finally had the time to get things back as they should be.

When I was cleaning out my hall closet, I found many fun items that some amazing brands have shared with me this year that I couldn’t believe I had stashed away.  I’d saved them for a giveaway, and then just never got around to it. Most are of the “pampering” variety… and I thought they’d make a fantastic gift for one of you lovely readers… especially during the hecticness that is the holiday season!

Everyone deserves a little pampering, after all….

Here’s what you have a chance to win:
