Re-Branding Update

A few weeks ago, I shared with you guys that I’m looking to rebrand NTTC

No Thanks to Cake Tagline | No Thanks to Cake

There were so many great suggestions, but I’ve picked one that’s going to be my tagline moving forward.

Rebranding NTTC | No Thanks to Cake

I just loved this one, and it’s going to be incorporated into not only my blog header and other PR documents.  Now, it won’t be an overnight process because I’ve got to engage the professionals to do all the fancy WordPress work behind the scenes.  Just the same, I can’t wait to see the final product.

Kenlie – - Thanks for coming up with just the right words for the tagline, when I was struggling!  Your Target gift card will be on its way!! xoxo

As far as NTTC is concerned, expect to see a lot of the same great content, just framed a little nicer with the addition of Kenlie’s genius tagline…

I’m Attending Fitbloggin 2014

It’s a weird year that I don’t have a bunch of trips peppered on my calendar by this time.  I even had a co-worker stop by and tell me that they are “disappointed by” my calendar… it’s that empty!

Right now, there’s only one trip that’s really set in stone, and it’s that one trip that I take every year that I can’t possibly miss out on…

This year, I wanted to make sure that I talked about the event early enough that you guys could consider attending.  It’s that good.

So, what is Fitbloggin?

The Fitbloggin conference is hosted by the amazing Roni Noone and is held annual to celebrate men and women committed to fitness, healthy living, and blogging. Roni is a phenomenal woman, who has not only lost weight and changed her life, but she runs an incredible brand and multiple websites including Roni’s Weigh and Green Lite Bites.  Roni and her mighty support team host this year annually and has created this open community of such incredible men and women.

I heard about Fitbloggin for the first time while reading Kenlie‘s blog.  Her comments really painted a picture of a family of people with common interests, a learning session, and a wonderfully life-changing experience.

With Kenlie’s recommendation and nudges from my dear blogger friend Hilary, I made plans to attend!  I also had the chance to meet the lovely Ashley, Dawn, and Lauren in person for the first time, marking the beginning of such wonderful friendships.  Having just lost the bulk of my weight, I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful it was to be around like-minded people, folks that blogged their journeys just like me, and people that were succeeding and (at times) struggling, just like me.

So… why am I talking about Fitbloggin again?  Well, if you are a blogger, and have means to attend… I really think you should join us in Savannah on June 26-29.  Attending Fitbloggin has really helped me take my blogging to the next level and has helped me to navigate through the crazy process of losing weight.  I come home every year with a renewed focus, introduction to new brands I love, and with fresh bonds with the most amazing people.

Let’s Talk for a Second about These People… Here’s a small glimpse at some of the wonderful bloggers I met in 2013..

And, there are so many more not pictured above… To me, there is nothing more wonderful than being able to send a quick email to my girl Monica to discuss our passion and what we’re doing to get there, to be able to count on the lovely Emily for fashion advice when I need it, to be able to applaud and support (another) Emily for her blogger bravery as she posts her vlogs about overeaters anonymous, and to cheer on Alan‘s amazing feats as he completes his first triathalon.  Let’s not forget being able to meet Hilary and Dawn’s beautiful baby girls last winter…

While I may have interacted with these amazing bloggers even if I hadn’t met them, the fact that I met them at one of the most impactful events I attend yearly makes the moments that much more spectacular.  These are my people, and I’m so excited to see them this summer in Savannah.

If you are looking to grow your healthy living blog… Consider attending Fitbloggin.

If you are looking to learn more about the business of blogging… Register for Fitbloggin.

If you are ready to meet the most fantastic people who have overcome the very same challenges you are working toward… For pete’s sake, come to Fitbloggin!

Are YOU coming to Fitbloggin this year??

Rebranding NTTC + a {GIVEAWAY}

I’ve been thinking about it for the past few months that I’m ready to rebrand “No Thanks to Cake” ever so slightly…

One of the most common questions I get about No Thanks to Cake is about how I came up with the name.  So, if you’ve wondered the same, and haven’t asked… here goes.

There was a period of time where cake was something I never was really able to say no to.  It was ever-present in my office building, around every corner for a celebration of a birthday or a success, and it always took everything in me to say no to that slice of sugary goodness.  Very rarely did I choose me, but I often chose cake.

When I joined Jenny, I decided to break up with cake, if you will… and to say “no thanks” to all the sugary treats that had been my kryptonite for so long.

Fast forward three years… and I still don’t eat much cake.  In most cases, I’ll say “no thanks” or pick the smallest of small pieces.  I’ve also learned many tricks about making cakes taste absolutely delicious, despite having some sneaky low-fat ingredients.  I’ve figured out a way to make it work… and, I’ve indulged in many a Jenny Craig cake over time as well.

The thing is, while life is incredibly fabulous, there is still time for dessert.  Yep, I said it… Dessert has certainly taken a new form, but there is always room.  After all, if there weren’t desserts in my world, you never would have seen these yummy recipes (Click on the pics to see the full recipes!)

Now that we’ve established I eat dessert,

here’s where you come in…

NTTC Re-Brand Giveaway | No Thanks to Cake

I am forever grateful to each of you for reading this blog… and you know the essence of No Thanks to Cake:  the weight loss stories, the healthy recipes, and all my randomness.  So, I’m asking you to help me re-brand No Thanks to Cake’s tagline.  Here are a few ideas that we came up with… I don’t love any of them…

“Making great choices since 2010″

“Choosing a healthy lifestyle never felt so great”

“Where the food is healthy and the sky’s the limit”

Leave your suggestion for a new tagline to replace “Where Life Is So Fabulous There’s No Time for Dessert”… and the selected tagline will receive a $20 gift card to my favorite store on the planet – - Target.

My friends and I have tried to come up with a new tagline… and ended up with nothing!  So, I thought I’d toss it out to you guys!!!  Get creative, and thanks so much!!!!

What do you think a great tagline would be for NTTC?  I’ll keep this open until next Monday, March 31 or until we have a winner!  Thanks, Everyone!!!

Something New: PopSugar Select

I got an email a few weeks ago that made my day.

Being that I am a full-time (and beyond) working girl, I don’t always have a lot of free time to grow this little blog in all the ways I have in mind.  While I always have a list a mile long of enhancements, potential blog posts, and recipes to create, I do my best to keep afloat most weeks, balancing my demanding job and my need to workout.

Enough of that silly sob story… let’s get back to the email I received.  So… when I got an email from PopSugar Fitness a few weeks, I was super-stoked.  They emailed me to invite me to participate in their new blogging network called PopSugar Select specifically in the fitness category.

PopSugar Fitness Select | No Thanks to Cake

PopSugar is wildly known amongst internet readers for their magazine-style sites that feature information about food, celebrities, fitness, and much more… each with a separate site dedicated to the topic (i.e. FitSugar, YumSugar, etc.)  I’ve been reading PopSugar for years, so it was AWESOME to hear they wanted me to join the network.

So what does it mean that I’m partnering up with PopSugar Fitness Select?

  • NTTC is being featured on the POPSUGAR Select site
  • I’ll have an opportunity to contribute original content to the POPSUGAR Fitness channel alongside their seasoned editors
  • Invitations to participate in opportunities sponsored by brands
  • Partner with the POPSUGAR sites and channels (POPSUGAR Fitness)
  • Invitations to private events and more
  • Receive products and special treats from the PopSugar Team

Yep… That’s my glamour shot there in the middle!  How fun is that?

I’ve already come into contact with so many new bloggers that I’ve started following and had a chance to see the familiar faces of a few fabulous ladies I’ve been reading for some time.  Example: The Get Fit Diva and PB Fingers are also part of this group!

I also noticed that PopSugar Select is accepting applications for the program.  If you are interested in participating, you can apply by clicking here.  Maybe they’ll put our pictures next to each other.

I look forward to sharing more with you guys in upcoming weeks as this partnership grows!  xoxo
