On Saturday morning, it was SOOOO cold outside! Denver had gone from warm fall weather to super-cold snow-like weather! While it didn’t snow in the low country on Saturday, the 32 degree weather could have easily brought it!
Just the same, Saturday morning always means one thing: WEIGH IN. And, for the first time ever, I completely overslept and missed my 8am appointment. Eeks!
Amalia called at 8:30am to check on me (and wake me up) and I quickly got up and headed to Jenny.
We spent the majority of my visit talking and chatting… and re-capping my visit to Salt Lake City. All in all, my eating was solidly on track. Aside from the free cheese and crackers the hotel sent up on Monday night, I ate Subway for dinner and worked out several nights. My weigh in should have been ON POINT.
I went to weigh in on the scale and was super-excited to have discovered that I was down EXACTLY one pound! Woo hooooooooo!
And then, I went to MyFitnessPal to log my weight, and found out that my weight loss this week was a SCAM! Last week, I had lost exactly one pound, but it appeared that we forgot to log that weight at Jenny Craig. So, as a result, I found out that this was my true weight loss for the week:
This Week’s Loss: -0.0 lbs
Total Weight Loss: -84.6 lbs
What a bummer! Oh well, I’m counting on a strong weight loss this week. I’ll be home all week and should have an opportunity to get to all of my favorite classes this week. I should be completely on track!
Random Beauty Tip:
On Saturday night, I went out to dinner with a friend of mine and was so looking forward to catching up! As usual, I had spent some time on Pinterest on Saturday morning and had found this tutorial for my hair. I decided to try it out and see if I could create these gorgeous curls. You know them, those beachy gorgeous curls that everyone on TV has… that real women just can’t pull off.
Now, I have to tell you that I’ve tried MANY different techniques that I’ve found on Pinterest. The one where you pin curl your hair and then flat iron it, the one where you braid it. I’ve bought weird clamp-less curling irons… and regardless, my hair didn’t even come close to looking like the girl in the pictures.
Maybe what made this one work is that I use the very same “trusty ghetto Conair curling iron” that this girl uses… I followed her technique and it TOTALLY worked! So, if you’ve been trying to do this (and failing miserably like me) try this tutorial.
Note: Next time I will add more hairspray. I don’t have the coarse hair she does, and my curls didn’t stay. Even as these pictures were being taken… the curl was falling. Also, I think it would look even more like the girl in the video if my hair was longer….
I also wash my hair every single day (or it looks awful), so I couldn’t relate with her commentary about the curls lasting 5 days at all.
Do you have any tips for fabulous wavy curls like this? Any hairspray recommendations (since I need one)?

Nice pics! I couldn’t help comparing the final pic to Zoolander’s Blue Steel cause you mentioned you were posing. I have opposite problem thick hair and not need for a curler as it does it all my itself so my bff is my flat iron ;0)
My hair is naturally curl it but I straighten it almost every day because my natural curls aren’t the nicest. I find it so hard to get nice curls from a curling iron so I’ll have to check this out!
Oooh I’ve recently taken on the task of attempting to master the curl. I stole my sister’s clipless curling iron and I’ve been OWNING it. My hair has a tendency to hold curl decently well anyway, but here’s what I’ve been doing and it’s been staying in really well for me – before I blow dry, add in a strong hold mousse – either something specifically made for curly hair or tresemme’s climate control mousse. Then after I curl a section I spritz it down with a light weight hairspray, I’m obsessed with tresemme hairspray (extra hold #4). Like you, I have to wash my hair every day, but I did notice last time I curled my hair that it was still curly the next day. Curly AND dirty…so it got washed out…but the point is they actually seemed to stay in which surprised me.
I am FAR from having mastered it… every once in a while I get inspired, but it’s not so often!
