I got back from Vegas on Monday afternoon, and jet set off to SLC on Tuesday morning.
Even though it could have been MUCH worse, I ate poorly in Vegas. I didn’t drink much water, and I didn’t work out. I didn’t really even walk all that normal people walk in Vegas because it was so stinkin’ hot.
To make matters worse, SLC wasn’t my best eating trip either. It’s like Vegas eating just wanted to continue. I ate Jenny Craig for dinner and breakfast… but I also snacked at the concierge lounge in the hotel WAY more than I should have. I actually ate one of their cookies and a chocolate mousse parfait! I can’t tell you the last time I ate dessert when I was on the road…. it just doesn’t happen.
I also packed workout clothes for both trips, and brought them home clean. EEKS! Saturday morning, I got up and knew what I had to do… time to face the scale.
I went to Jenny Craig and met up with my JCC Amalia… surprisingly and THANKFULLY, I weighed in and here are the results:
This Week: -0.2 lbs
I had a long talk with Amalia about Vegas and how it was much better than it could have been, but not so good overall. I also shared with her that I’d felt a little lost without working out this week and that I planned to change that!
My return to working out kicked off bright and early on Sunday morning.
You might remember last year that I had a pretty strong Spin-Yoga routine. Well, my favorite studio offered a Groupon for 10 yoga/spin classes that I couldn’t pass by. And, I’ve been craving spin for a while now. Not only because it’s a great workout, but also because I was curious as to how I’d do now in comparison to what I was able to do in the past.
Just the sight of these bikes had me wondering if this was REALLY what I wanted to be doing on Sunday morning… my lady parts were crying a little bit, afraid of the painful seat. Alas, I climbed on my bike and before I knew it….We were SPINNING!!!
A few things that blow my mind about spinning:
- You Seriously Sweat – All that up and down and hovering over the bike seat… you end up DRIPPING by the end of class. Even the ladies who go to this class every week were absolutely soaked. Thank goodness for the towel they gave me and for the bottle of water I had with me… both were essentials for today’s class.
- The Music Rocks – I’m perfectly ok sweating my arse off while pushing up and down on the bike while listening to “Call Me Maybe” and love hearing Rihanna as I fight through the last song. I’m not a HUGE music person, but I love how motivating the music becomes in these classes.
- That Seat – Who designed that silly thing? Now, this time around I’m not in terrible pain… but it’s certainly not comfortable.
The way the class is set up, you take 30 minutes of spin and then transition to yoga for the final 30 minutes.
As you transition, you physically move from the spin room across the hall to the yoga studio. In the hallway between the two rooms, you pick up a super cold, lavender scented wash cloth. Seriously, I think I’ll keep going back for this washcloth. It’s that good. It’s incredibly refreshing. It’s definitely my favorite part.
The 30 minutes of yoga is not nearly as relaxing as the yoga that I’m used to. You’re already hot and your full of endorphins… so they keep you working hard with lots of flow. By the end of the class, you need the savasana and I definitely needed it (with my cool washcloth back on my face.) Overall, I’m so happy to be back in Spin/Yoga… and I’m back working out. And, I’ve already signed up for two additional classes this week!
I’ve got 10 lbs left to hit my JC goal… and working out is going to certainly help me get there. I’m planning yoga, gym time, and maybe even a little pilates for the week. Super-excited to get my workout on this week!
What are you doing to workout this week? Are you trying anything new?
